With the average monthly income in Cuba being so low, in comparison to first-world countries, you couldn't expect tickets to cost what we pay. For example, I paid $AU203 to see Brian Wilson (founder of the Beach Boys) play at the Sydney Opera House at the end of March, 2016. A friend of mine saw Prince last week at the same venue for much more.

With the Rolling Stones playing in Cuba for free, I wonder how many other big acts will do the same? (I'm thinking of you guys, U2!)

Brian Wilson at the Sydney Opera House sounds like a once in a lifetime experience. Amazing! Saw the stones in Toronto a few years back, and many seats cost between $500 and $1000.

I'm sure a ton of industry insiders and international fans will be taking up a lot of those "free" tickets. Also, The Stones notoriously will not perform without being paid their fee, so I am really curious about who is paying for this?

The first I heard about it the concert was to be held earlier in the month, and even up to a week or two ago the rumours were that the show would not be happening anymore. Hotels are going to be packed, hell even I was thinking of planning my trip for March instead of May when I heard the rumours.

Maybe Obama will extend his trip?

Good on the Stones I say. Will be a great time for folks in Havana.

This is cool... "This entire event is being made possible by the benefaction of Fundashon Bon Intenshon on behalf of the island of Curaçao. Fundashon Bon Intenshon initiates and supports international charitable projects in the fields of education, athletics, cultural literacy, healthcare and tourism as well as other attempts to mitigate the impact of general poverty.'

This too..."The band are also leading a musician to musician initiative in which much needed musical instruments and equipment are being donated by major suppliers for the benefit of Cuban musicians of all genres."

I was at the Beach Boys 50th anniversary World Tour Sydney Concert in August, 2012 and I paid $AU250 for the ticket. It was an outstanding show, with professional, experienced musicians and 50 songs with an encore, I still can't pay the Beach Boys enough accolades for how good it was.

I know that the Rolling Stones will offer similar value for money, which you do have to appreciate given their age.

In college we used to go to the local arena about 15 min after show started and scalp tix. We saw, I believe 14 different shows in 2 years. Best deal I got was Stones floor seats for $20 USD. I will never forget it. Was an incredible show.

A lot of my friends are down there right now for work. Every single piece of staging gear, lighting, power, audio, Backline, the works had to be shipped in. They've been down there since last week. They've had a bit of time to explore but not much.

Oh and in regards to the Audioslave show, A little inside info, it was brought to you via you're friendly Central Intelligence Agency....

Flying out of Toronto as we speak. Knew there were rumors of a show and booked that week with fingers crossed. Can't wait to see the stones and Cuba at such an exciting time. Will report back.

i reckon that is about what they are worth (U2, that is, not the stones). saw them in sydney years ago. the only time i got excited was when they broke into 'like a hurricane'.

anyway, cuba is not that big. how would their egos fit?

as for the stones, that would be fun. but in the circumstances and if free, i'd reckon you could get 500,000.

Selection was incredible but I've gotta say our host knows quality control, half of what I saw in stores wouldn't even get sold on here.
