jackattack Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 I think home cooking will rule the day....a significant advantage this time of year. Broncos/Panthers in the Superbowl. I'm hoping the game is decided on the field and not by the refs...... Taking the Panthers in the bowl.... 1
Smooth Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 My brother arrived in Charlotte this morning from Melbourne OZ! He's mad for the cards and wasn't missing this one.
irratebass Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 I have a Monte I am dry boxing for Sunday....when I work next, not sure of the size, but it is about 3yrs old, I cut it a few weeks ago to smoke, and the draw was too tight. I put it back in the humi and forgot about it until this morning....I'll post a pic and maybe you "experts" can tell me more about it. Ok, here it is gents.... Which one is it? Colt45 Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Ok, here it is gents.... Which one is it? Looks like a No.4 to me, but possibly a No.5... 1
Easttide Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 I find with my charcoal smoker that in the winter in need to wrap it with a water heater blanket. Keeps the heat in the smoking chamber better. I've also modded the hell out of mine. Used hi-temp gasket sealant on any and all seems, and U channel and fireplace gasket material to make a tight seal for the lid, and then dryer vent hose snaked around the top of the lid down to the cooking grates to make the smoke stay in longer. It dramatically improved the amount of fuel I use and cook times. About a 8lbs of charcoal and 10-12 hours I can do a full 15lb brisket to 203F trim and then still use the residual for burnt ends! I use a very similar setup (with the blanket, mods) and get just about the same results with the coal. We need before and after pics! Anyone want a 14 year recap on the greatness of Brady, feel free. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KU99MYTsEcA 1

It looks like a Monte 4. This a fair difference in length as the No.4 is a bit over 5 inches (129mm) and the No.5 is only 4 inches long (102mm). 1

JohnInCleveland Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 JIC, your smoker electric or charcoal? Always amazed at how much longer it takes to smoke meat in cold temps! Charcoal, got a BGE for Christmas. Just learning how to use it, luckily my pops has become somewhat of an expert, eliminating the need for me to ruin chunks of meat as a learning experience. I don't have any frame of reference for how much longer it takes in the cold, hopefully it'll get warm enough in a few months for the sake of comparison. 1
Wrangler Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Smoking a Monte 2 for the cards Panthers game. Don't underestimate the cards.... I feel an upset going if we don't make any mistakes. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk
Easttide Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Good game, great finish. Brady will be sore tomorrow. Amazing that Gostkowski misses his first in 500+ and it haunts them with the late game heroics. Oh well, happy for Peyton.
JohnS Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Go Broncos! Their defensive line was brilliant today, it made the difference (and the missed NE PAT!).
Guest scsi Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Yeah..... as much as I hate to see NE lose I have to say that the Denver defense was nothing short of brilliant Brady was harassed all afternoon, he could never get set I'm happy for Peyton though 1
El Presidente Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Don't underestimate the cards.... I feel an upset going if we don't make any mistakes. They had better get a wriggle along
Wrangler Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 They had better get a wriggle along We are having a rough start.... My Monte is being knawed to death.... LOL
Wrangler Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 We suck..... Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk
JohnS Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 We suck..... Nah...Cam Newton had the game of his life! Carolina's offense was too good today. 1
MrGTO Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Well you can't turn the ball over that many times and expect to win in a playoff scenario.
rckymtn22 Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Belicheck blew that game, as it was the Pats to win. They should took the points when the Pats had the chance, 3 field goals at the end would have won for them.
El Presidente Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Well good luck to Denver's defence two weeks from now. Cards showed how it could be done in the second Quarter. Mind you ....I have coached perennial mismatched sides most of my life in Rugby....always looking for the "glass half full"
Habana Mike Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Cam and the Panthers are very strong but Denver's D may make the difference. Still have to stick with my ponies. We'll see in a couple of weeks.
