MIKA27 Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 14 Killed at Center for Disabled in San Bernardino At least three gunmen entered the Inland Regional Center of San Bernardino, killing and wounding more than two dozen before fleeing. San Bernardino, California police said at least three gunmen killed upwards of 14 people and injured even more at a center for disabled people on Wednesday morning. The Inland Regional Center was hosting an event honoring county personnel when the gunmen entered and opened fire at approximately 11 a.m. local time. Their motive is unknown, Police Chief Jarrod Burguan said during a press conference. "These people came prepared," Burguan said, adding that the men were armed with long guns and maybe body armor. The gunmen escaped in a black sport-utility vehicle and their whereabouts are unknown. "We do not have any credible threats to other facilities," Burguan said. Asked whether he suspects terrorism, the chief said, "Obviously, at minimum, we have a domestic terrorist-type situation that occurred here." Pressed further, Burguan said, "The only thing I'm comfortable saying at this point is that the information we have is that they came prepared to do what they did as if they were on a mission." Police and SWAT cleared the building and evacuated all employees and people inside. Triage units were established outdoors for the wounded. “They saw bodies on the floor,” a husband of a woman at the center told KABC. Another woman in the building texted her father: "People shot. In the office waiting for cops. Pray for us." Inland Regional employs 670 people and has provided an estimated 30,000 people with care over the past 40 years. The center serves people with developmental disabilities, from children to adults. The day before the shooting, the center hosted a holiday party. Just spotted at the ICF Holiday Party...Santa!!! He's posing for photos and taking gift requests. MIKA: All I can say is god bless those who are affected and god speed to catch those responsible.

Popular Post Ryan Posted December 3, 2015 Popular Post Posted December 3, 2015 We can all agree that this was a terrible event but please don't let this become another deleted thread about gun control. We all know the arguments and another one on this forum isn't going to change anyone's mind on this issue. 11
JohnS Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Disabled people? It makes no sense and it can never do so. 1
HarveyBoulevard Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Disabled people? It makes no sense and it can never do so. No disabled people dead or injured. There was a Christmas party in a rented space in the building. That was the target. No idea of motive yet but they have 2 dead suspects and 1 live suspect in custody. It was a county government Christmas party. Odd. They did just ID 1 suspect as lone wolf type ISIS type...but who knows. I don't believe everything I hear this early in the investigation stage. 1

Of course, it doesn't make it any more palatable!
HarveyBoulevard Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Tons of guns. Tons of ammo. Explosive device left at the initial scene of the attack. About to do a controlled detonation.
MIKA27 Posted December 3, 2015 Author Posted December 3, 2015 A Shooting in San Bernardino Here’s what we know so far: —Up to three gunmen opened fire at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, California, killing at least 14 people and wounding 17 others. —Two of the suspects—one male, one female—were killed by police officers in a neighboring town. Police have detained a third suspect, but it’s unclear if he is involved. —Police discovered what appears to be an explosive device at the center where the shooting occurred. At least 14 people are dead and 17 are injured after a shooting Wednesday at a social-services facility in San Bernardino, California, police said. Ten of the 17 injured are in critical condition. Two suspects—one male, one female—were killed by police officers, San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan said during his second news conference of the day. Police have detained a third suspect who was seen running away, but say they do not know whether that person, whom they referred to as a “he,” was involved. Tips led police to the nearby town of Redlands, where officers and the suspects exchanged fire, Burguan said. One officer was wounded, but his injuries were not life-threatening. News helicopter footage showed the scene at a residential street, where dozens of heavily armed police officers had gathered. A dark-colored SUV was stopped in the middle of the street, its windows blown out. The suspects carried assault rifles and handguns, and were dressed in “assault-style” clothing, Burguan said. Officials have not determined a motive for the shooting. David Bowdich, assistant director of the FBI, was asked if terrorism was a possible motive. “It’s a possibility,” he said, “but we don’t know that yet.” Police also discovered what appears to be an explosive device at the center where the shooting occurred. At an earlier news conference, Burguan said at least three suspects fled in a dark-colored SUV after the shooting. He said they “came prepared,” entering the Inland Regional Center with long guns and opening fire. “They came in with a purpose,” he told reporters. “They came in with the intent to do something.” Federal agencies, including the FBI, are assisting in the investigation. Police shut down courthouses and other local government buildings. Police received information about the shooting at about 11 a.m. local time, Burguan said. He said they did not exchange fire with the gunmen. “We don’t know if they were on scene when they arrived,” he said. The injured were taken to local hospitals and the facility, which employs hundreds of people, was evacuated. Vicki Cervantes, a sergeant with the San Bernardino Police Department, told ABC7, a local TV station, earlier that an event had been going on at the time of the shooting at the Inland Regional Center. “Multiple shooters came in and just started shooting,” she said. That event was a holiday party for the San Bernardino Health Department. Burguan said a person left that party after a dispute. It’s unclear if that person is linked to the shooting. The Inland Regional Center, which was founded in 1971, serves people with developmental disabilities in Riverside and San Bernardino counties. On its Facebook page, the center says: Inland Regional Center was built on the foundation of three core values – independence, inclusion, and empowerment. In following these core values, we hope to help provide each individual with a service system that helps identify and eliminate barriers for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families so they can closely live a typical lifestyle. President Obama told CBS News Wednesday that the shootings show that “we have a pattern now of mass shootings in this country that has no parallel anywhere else in the world.” Other American officials, politicians, and presidential candidates also weighed in, mostly on Twitter. Congressman Pete Aguilar, a Democrat who represents that area, offered his condolences and called for “an end to this violence.” The Inland Regional Center had held its annual holiday party on Tuesday, and had scheduled a winter dance for Friday. Facebook users flooded the center’s page with comments following reports of the shooting. “You helped my grandson a great deal a few years back. I am praying for you all,”wrote one user. “Sending Prayers from the Netherlands, to all of you and wish you all the strength you need,” wrote another. This is a developing story, and we’ll update as we learn more. 1
MIKA27 Posted December 3, 2015 Author Posted December 3, 2015 Suspect ID'd in San Bernardino Massacre as Syed Farook CORONA, CALIFORNIA — Law enforcement officials have identified Syed Farook as one of the suspected shooters who attacked a center for the disabled in San Bernardino, California, according to NBC News. The Daily Beast has learned that the police have just executed a search warrant at a Redlands, California address—an address that belongs to Farook’s family. Police pursued a car leaving from the Redlands address, Chief Jarrod Baraugan said at a Wednesday evening press conference. A male and female suspect were inside the car, and both of them have been killed. Both of the suspects were armed with assault rifles and handguns, Baraugan said. Police have apprehended a third man, but have not identified his relation to the attacks yet. An eyewitness at the Inland Regional Center, where gunmen killed 14 and wounded at least 18 more, told police he saw a man leaving a meeting of county employees this morning, looking nervous. Poice officers named Syed Farook as that man in their radio communications. At approximately 11 a.m., at least two people entered the center and opened fire. Farook, who also went by his middle name, Raheel, was a business taxes representative for the California State Board of Equalization, according to his LinkedIn profile. He is a 2003 graduate La Sierra High School, and most recently studied finance at California State University Fullerton until 2013. Records show Farook bought a two bedroom Corona home in March 2014. Farouk’s social media profile shows he is married and has at least one young child. His wife did not return messages left on Wednesday. Farook lived at a home with his wife and children in Corona, California. The Daily Beast knocked on the home's door and was met by a man who said, “My name is Farook.” When asked if he knew Sayed, the man said, “Of course I know him but I have nothing to say.” When asked about Syed being named as a suspect, he said, “I have nothing to say.” Behind Farook, was a brightly lit home with low-slung sectional couches and boxes for appliances. The smell of basmati rice cooking came wafting through the door. A set of womens sandals sat outside of the security door. Five minutes after he answered the door, Farook got into a white car and drove away, answering questions again with, “I have nothing to say.” The Daily Beast contacted Farooq's sister, Saira Khan, by phone on Wednesday shortly after the shooting. She said the media was jumping to conclusions on identifying the suspect and said that her brother was at work. Khan said she would try to get in touch with her brother and pass along his contact information.
