excellent list Ken. I have actually had the opportunity in my travels to try quite a few of them.

This is in the humor section I take it?

Any list that list pizza as one of the 50 best dishes cannot be taken seriously.

i think it is a combination of truly great dishes and famous dishes from original locations (or where they are done best). but, and personally i am not much of a pizza eater, i think there is an argument that a truly great pizza is a legitimately great dish. but i would not be spruiking it.

The emboldened part would make some sense :)

To put it up a notch.Rouladen with Spätzle.

For those who don't know what Spätzle are, this are homemade noodles. In the olden days the dough was spread very thin on a wooden board and then scraped into a pot with boiling salted water.Once the float to the surface they will be scooped out into cold water.Nowadays everybody uses machines.I must say that my mother was able to do it faster with board and knife than I can make them with the machine.

Obviously the author was from New York as the Midwest was left off this list. No hot dog, beef sandwich, deep dish pizza or steak from Chicago. No fried Ravioli from St. Louis. No Horseshoe from Springfield, IL. No KC or Memphis Barbecue. Come on!

i'm sure there'll be universal agreement on these. i tried a number, and even at the recommended place in some cases, but i'm not sure it would be my exact list.

Couldn't help but notice Kangaroo on the list. Has anyone tried it? What does it taste like? And don't say chicken!

How is it normally prepared? Grilled like a steak? Or in a stew?

I find it similar in taste to venison. Very dark red meat with almost no fat. You can have it grilled like a steak but it needs to be cooked rare or it will end up tough as leather. You can also slow cook it in a stew.

largely agree with the above. very lean, healthy meat. makes good mince. a few chefs i have spoken with love certain cuts (i have a feeling the tail is prized but don't quote that) but far less excited with others.

had the early settlers had any sense, they would have farmed kangaroo and not brought in sheep/cattle - well, sheep for wool, but you know what i mean. apparently the way roos eat grass is far less harmful to our native grasses than with sheep/cattle.

Any list of top world foods that doesn't include Haggis isn't worth the paper it's written on

I scrolled down to the end of the article with the sub-heading titled, 'Five drinks a traveller really should try'...

"Yes, Guinness does taste different in Dublin."

My initial reaction was, "really?" surprised.gif

it might, now that they have taken the fish guts out (yes) and it has gone vegan!
