Hello all. Downsizing to a new home and my wife INSISTS I buy a cabinet humidor as my two wineadors will not go well with the decor she is planning. I must oblige her.....happy wife, happy life!

So, I wanted to ask from your experiences, how many boxes do the following models hold? I already know what Bob's site states it holds, but inquiring on your experience. I have 25 cabs of hermosos and CG's, dress boxes of PC's/CG's/HC/Julietas, 2 boxes of 898's, 3 LGC 1 and 4, couple Cazadores, 1 box of SW.

I have narrowed my choices to the following with THC. So if you have the following, how many boxes are you holding in them:

M Plus 17:

M Plus 25:

MXT 19:

MXT 26:

FYI, I understand to buy bigger than what I think I will need. I currently have 51 boxes. I know I will never go above 75 boxes. I really don't want to buy storage that over exceeds what I will need, but not buy small enough that when I reach my 75 box par level that I have to play tetris just to take out a smoke like I do my wineadors. I plan to add and always keep 2 of 50 cabs (RASS) in the near future.

TIA...Arnold

Mxt ... 60 x 40 x 26.5 ... No singles shelf .

Mostly coronas , petit coronas , lonsdales

Mostly boxes of 25 ( about 25% cabs of 50 )

Just over 200 boxes ... It is full ... You would be lucky to add a piece of paper to it .

Over the summer I finally broke down and bought an Aristocrat. I got the M-plus 25D THC. I have just over 60 boxes in it with more room if I want to maneuver things around. Pretty similar to what you have, maybe a few less cabs..I'll try to get a picture later so you can get an idea.

Thanks Gents. This makes things much easier. I was getting frustrated. I would opt out of the singles drawer.

Will go with the M Plus 17 THC

My Staebell THC is a custom size, not a size I'd buy if it wasn't originally for a specific location (that isn't a consideration now, go figure...frown.gif ). One of the problems with "how many boxes" is that the 25 dress box and the 25 slide top box stack very differently and depending on the size of your cabinet, the number of boxes may vary somewhat.

But, I think you're on the money, If you're looking to optimize box storage, losing the singles drawer is a very reasonable way to go.

Good luck - !!

That should be plenty big for your current situation with some room for growth.

I have around 100 boxes (mix of 10s, 25s and 50s) give or take in my M Plus 25D with two singles drawers. Still a little room to play with.

I just realized that there is no standard Aristocrat that would even get close to fitting all my boxes....

Best bet when ordering an Aristocrat is what has been said. Do away with the singles drawer at the top and have strictly shelves for whole boxes. Any random singles can be stored in an empty box. This is what I do.

If you are willing to shell out the coin, I'm sure Bob can make you a cabinet that would hold 1,000 boxes. Money talks.

Better yet, a home walk-in humidor would be the ultimate for the serious collector.

Walk-in is the plan. Will also cost less.

You gentlemen in North America are so lucky to have these superb pieces readily available. Here in Europe I have found nothing even remotely comparable to an Aristocrat, were they for sale here I would be all over one like a cheap suit.

Aristocrat are just so nice looking. I just use a 128qt cooler for boxes a 48qt for singles. Look awful but functional.

Just for the heck of it, have you inquired how much shipping costs would be if you purchased an Aristocrat and had FedEx to Europe?

They are certainly an investment that would last a lifetime.

Perhaps a group buy with enough orders to fill a shipping container? Cost sharing could keep the overall expense down.....

You definitely have options... I know him and his work personally .

Regarding the singles drawer decision - any reason why you shouldn't just order one, then remove it if need arises?

Yes there would be ... If you fill it up ... The weight on the shelves would be excessive ... The back two slats on each shelf are cantelevered on to the front ones ... Overloading the back third of the shelves is a possibility even with four in there .

How many fans is optimal for the;

M Plus 17

M Plus 25

??

(No longer opting for MXT as the 48" H of the M Plus actually works best for the spot my wife is allowing me to place the unit in the home)

MxT 19 can hold 100+ boxes if you do some tetris (and I mean serious tetris). It'll definitely be a very tight fit, but it will work. If I could do it over again, I'd go with the most depth possible with slide out drawers. Definitely opt out of the single's drawer if you don't have a need for it. Good luck with your purchase. I really like Bob's cabinets a lot....just added a MxT Plus 4884 to my collection and had the depth modified to be even deeper....from 26.5" to 32" deep. You will be happy with your cabinet.

Thanks, Derrek. I've got an Mxt 26.5 order in flight now and I might ask Bob to not add the singles shelf, since I'm focused on box storage, and singles are the exception.
