Ken Gargett Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 this is disgraceful. The kiwi cricket team (whose captain insists on being portrayed as some sort of latter day saint even though he protected match fixers for about three years) has declared twice at 0/0 rather than bother to play their warm up – a first class fixture. There was more than half the game to go. Before the game they whinged about having to play it for four days and had it shortened to three. Now they will just walk away. Bugger the fans and bugger the game. We are losing so we will throw the toys out of the pram, pack up the bat and ball and go away. Pity they don’t go away to another planet. If international cricket had any balls, it would ban the lot of them. What a pack of grubs. The reason – pitch was too dangerous. This would be the very same pitch on which the Australians just declared at 1 for 503. Must be a nightmare. Perhaps they were concerned someone might collapse from too much running between the wickets. Where will they run and hide if they get a greentop? I look forward to the next grub mentioning the underarm (which was a perfectly legal delivery, granted unnecessary, and one for which the whinging kiwis should get up every morning and bow down and thank us as it dragged them out of their fifties stupor and gave them something to do – bleat about us – which they have been doing for 35 years. And as yet, I’m still to meet a kiwi who will acknowledge this). i have life membership at the gabba so can come and go as i please but i will not waste two seconds there watching kiwis. 2
Dimmers Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 You are rounding into fine form for the RWC final Ken! 2
Ken Gargett Posted October 30, 2015 Author Posted October 30, 2015 You are rounding into fine form for the RWC final Ken! i merely feel obliged to report the truth. 1
Jeremy Festa Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 I only read this thread because I love the word 'grubby' Sent from my iPhone 2
Ken Gargett Posted October 30, 2015 Author Posted October 30, 2015 saw this on the net this morning. monty python would be proud. Brave Sir Brendan ran awayBravely ran away awayWhen danger reared its ugly headHe bravely turned his tail and fled Yes, brave Sir Brendan turned aboutAnd gallantly he chickened outBravely taking to his feetHe beat a very brave retreat Bravest of the brave, Sir Brendan! 1
Ken Gargett Posted October 31, 2015 Author Posted October 31, 2015 It's only a game. *ducks* what a horrifying thought. only a game! it speaks to national character. 1
Ken Gargett Posted October 31, 2015 Author Posted October 31, 2015 which doesn't say a lot about the kiwi attack if the opposition was 1 for 500 plus on it. and that was scored by a bloke who is a one day/20-20 specialist and a reserve keeper who can't make his shield team. those who remember the gabba wicket when our lord mayor appointed himself as the curator (you couldn't make that up) will look on that pitch as near immaculate compared to the test pitches teams played on back then. and what of the decades pre covered pitches?
JackFNQ Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 yawn, waiting for a big afl season for the cats. Playing in Bris in August 2016- I think I'll be there.
Ken Gargett Posted October 31, 2015 Author Posted October 31, 2015 not sure what the afl has to do with this. but for some fun - meet sir robin mccullam. 1
JohnS Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 I know of no other precedent such as this one in Australian first-class cricket. In regards to player form, this was an incredibly stupid and unwise move from New Zealand management. Do you really think your players are now ready for the first test against Australia next week in Brisbane?

After losing by 208 runs and being totally outplayed, I think the answer to whether the Black Caps were ready for the first test would be...no!
Bill Hayes Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Couldn't agree more although their Pinot Noir and Chardonnay's are really quite delicious! The Pinot and Chards in Victoria Australia are far superior IMHO. NZ are known for mass producing that evil sauv blanc giggle juice.
