I am an IPA lover but they do not pair well with cigars IMO. I often drink them with cigars since i love both independently but they dont ehance one another for me. I prefer belgium style beers paired with cigars.

An ERdM with a strong IPA is one of life's treasures. I've really, really enjoyed my last 6m old Choix Supreme with Midtfyns Bryghus. It really helps to mask the young harshness of the ERdM CS.

Somehow matches any marca and any vitola at any time!

Laugh if you will, but those American / Canadian lagers are fantastic to pair with some cigars. I used to only use them to mix with gin to make an instant gin&tonic (instead of tonic water) but they are a step above regular sparkling water in terms of taste that pairs very well with a cigar. My favourite is Busch.

If I really want to taste it, though. I would probably go with a strong cigar with Hobgoblin. A British friend of mine introduced that to me in Belgium and it was a fantastic pairing that I brought back to Canada with me. Great with steak, too!

I didn't know water was a pairing option! I have to try that...

This is true. Every cigar pairs well with water.

I must admit, never have found beer the best match for a cigar. A great rum or bourbon seems the pairing for me, one complimenting the other, drawing flavors out and lowering carbos and calories .... Yea, that's it - a DIET!

A coffee porter went down excellently a few months back, very creamy with a awakening coffee finish which was pleasant with the Bolivar Corona at the time.

Here you go Ken. Holgate Temptress Chocolate Porter and an aged Upmann Mag 46. Nice pairing on a sunny afternoon last Friday.

wow! did'nt know so many CC smokers liked it with beer. i'm not a fan at all. i love beer and i drink light wheat Ale all the way to the IPA's but with a cigar, nope. something about the fizzyness of beers really does not pair well wioth the cigar for me. it has to be a smooth fizzy free drink. Scotch, cognac and rum...and pure, no rocks and no mixing! biggrin.png

Same for me, luckily you can get cask condition real ales here in most pubs which are not fizzy. More like rich malty dreams. The fizz on modern takes on beers seem to cut right through the aftertaste of each draw and leave a metallic bitterness for me.

Very surprised to see so many dismissing the combo cigar and IPA. For me it's a perfect match. The IPA can not be too bitter though, it needs to be balanced with some fruitiness. Had one the other night with hints of rhubarbs and vanilla, wonderful!

I prefer the lagers or Pilsner with a cigar. Nothing too overpowering. Having said that, I will still smoke even if I fancy a good IPA or ale.
