Popular Post LordAnubis Posted October 14, 2015 Popular Post Posted October 14, 2015 Firstly, JJFox is a staple among any cigar smoker in London. For a long time renovations have been in air and they have finally been completed! Downstairs the Churchill Museum is in order again with a lot of cigar artefacts and history to be learned. This has also cleared the shop floor of the museum pieces and added with smaller island display cabinets it has helped to open up the shop floor to be more spacious. It'll certainly be a great improvement for shop events that's for sure. Can't wait to go to the next event. Most important of all though, the lounge upstairs has also been renovated. The lounge has expanded, a new ventilation system installed and new furniture. It's amazing. One of the nicest lounges in London. Now a shout out to a new cigar venue in London. The Garden at the Corinthia Hotel near Embankment Underground station. It's in a high end part of town, the hotel is super high end, but that's where the expectations stop. As you walk up to the door there is no judgement for a bloke like me wearing jeans and runners. Openly welcomed through the door and openly helped when you need to find your way to the garden. The garden has two ends, both with fire places. Nice and warm there if you get a place. I think the middle there are tables and chairs with a few heaters in between. Not the best heating system but you can get by. Manu Harit is the brains behind this place. Great bloke. A great guy and very passionate about what he is setting up! He is always honest with what he has in his humidor and if it's smoking crap then he'll tell you so. I smoked two cigars by his recommendation in my three visits to the place in the week I was there. Both recommendations were excellent!!! And might I add they did not in any way break the bank. An extremely reasonable retail price for a 2003 cigar and a 1999 cigar. I suspect this place will become the new FoH home ground. Look forward to many a herf here in the future! Highly recommend for anyone in town looking for a smoke. Just brilliant!!! I don't have any pictures of the place but here's two pics of myself and chanceschmer smoking what is only named "The Don". A 7 inch by 70 RG monster bought as a joke from a Canadian retailer but we decided to light it up. It wasn't actually bad!!! Just like the cohiba dildo supremos, not bad a smoke, just terribly uncomfortable and awkward to fully enjoy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 7
Puros Y Vino Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Great writeup Mus. That JJ Fox lounge looks great. Good to see you and Chris chilling out enjoying a smoke. 1
ChanceSchmerr Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 I'm looking a little tired there - had just landed at LHR from Canada about 12 hours prior, and hadn't slept in 2 days.....
LordAnubis Posted October 14, 2015 Author Posted October 14, 2015 Was a good week of herfing with the regular London folks! Always a good time! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
El Presidente Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Thanks Mus....and Congrats to Rob, Stu and all the JJFox team 2
torsion Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Nice write up Mus, last time I was in London in May this year was the exact day JJFox closed the upstairs for rennovations so I headed to 1A St.James and met Tom Randall. Also met Manu back in May too at Ed Sahakian's lounge at the Bulgari Hotel. Top bloke like you say and enthusiastic Will pop by to both in the new year when I am back in London and try to reach some other UK'ers on here for a herf!
luv2fly Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 "the cohiba dildo supremos" That is too funny....and true!
OZCUBAN Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Great stuff Mus thanks for posting London CIgar shops are defiantly on my bucket list , That Cigar is way to big for my tastes ,and that photo it looks nearly as thick as your arm Looking forward to catching up with you my friend especially in Brisbane Cheers Steve
jabster Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Imagine we had something like this in Aus. That would be great 1
ChanceSchmerr Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Hey Chris, how'd the dissertation go? Not too bad! Got it in and passed - that's all that matters. MSc is done and all but official - Graduation itself doesn't happen until next summer for some reason for all of us. Just a good excuse to come back to London next summer! How bout you, mate? Are you coming back to London between now and December? I still have this Bolivar Poderosos RE Belux waiting for you!
Habano Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Look forward to spending many evenings in the lounge next month. More pics and a video on their FB page as well.
torsion Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Paging @LordAnubis & @ChanceSchmerr - I am in London this week and yesterday went to JJFox and today the Bulgari hotel and spent loads of time at both smoking. I have bought a load of sticks with me and possibly have two more nights of smoking, any recommendations for places to bring my own to smoke? Was looking at No.10 Manchester street for tomorrow.I don't mind buying but got a fair few with me. Thanks in advance!!
LordAnubis Posted January 4, 2016 Author Posted January 4, 2016 Best place to take your own is Corinthia hotel. No minimum spend. Good place and good people. It'll be a bit chilly though so take a jacket you don't mind smoking in. Manchester Street is good also, it does have a minimum spend which is no worries if you're planning on having a few drinks or a meal. Other than that close to JJ Fox is the Mayfair hotel. Nice place and again minimum spend. Sometimes they have functions there and close off the smoking terrace, maybe call them before hand.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
torsion Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Cheers Mus,appreciate the insight. Its coldish but I think will check out The Corintha tonight. 1
LordAnubis Posted January 4, 2016 Author Posted January 4, 2016 Good choice. Have a look at their humidor in any case, generally have a nice box of something open.
ChanceSchmerr Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Moving back from London to Canada as we speak so i can't join you for a cigar unfortunately But one more location to add is Boisdale Belgravia. Excellent terrace for cigars with a great whisky list to boot. Good luck mate! 1
CanuckSARTech Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Hopefully Foxy taught you guys how to light your cigars!!! Hard to smoke them that way!!!
LordAnubis Posted January 12, 2016 Author Posted January 12, 2016 Hopefully Foxy taught you guys how to light your cigars!!! Hard to smoke them that way!!! I'll smoke cigars the way i want to smoke cigars !!!! Take your opinions somewhere else buddy 1
ChanceSchmerr Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Hopefully Foxy taught you guys how to light your cigars!!! Hard to smoke them that way!!! No wonder they took so long to smoke! LOL
SokaKiel Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Sitting at the Corinthia right now, thanks for your write up Mus! Fantastic spot, 2 degrees outside and under the heater in front of the fire place you don't feel the chill at all, so far no jacket needed! Cheers, Leif Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2
