Because I'm still a bit new to habanos, I decided to embark on a little project to watch the full glory of the FoH video review catalog and take in as much context and experience as I could from that

I've been keeping up with the video reviews and entering data as the reviews are released, and thought I'd offer a few new charts and graphs, with brief commentary: Robusto, Robusto Extra, and

This is really lacking data around what Springsteen songs were played in the background during the review. Do over. ;-)

Alright, folks. For those curious, I added a new tab to the sheet: "Ratings graphs". Can't link to it directly, but you can see it if you reload the spreadsheet page. You can hover over the various bars and wedges to see the specific values in the graphs.

Most commonly used buckets for each reviewer:

UPDATED (several updates, including some re-binning)

Rob: 90-91 (27% of cases) followed by 91-92 (22%)

Ken: Both 90-91 and 91-92 top his frequency chart with 19% each.

Smithy: Like Rob, the Wookie likes 90-91 the best (29% of reviews), followed by 88-89 (21%).

I have not yet determined if there's a correlation of scores to time-of-year, though that might be interesting. smile.png

That was an awesome job!

Withe the baseball playoffs underway, stats hold an unusually strong interest for me.

Thanks for your contribution teacher.gif

Ok, one more update today. I summarized a bunch of flavor profile and other data into a single "Brand Profile" tab, with entries for every brand which has made an appearance on the review decks.

It shows the top flavors mentioned (I have a rough weighting system which emphasizes strongly called out flavors, and de-emphasizes hints and aromas), and shows the number of times a human gave it a score, with the average score listed. I also added a brand average body rating, where 1 = most mild, 3 = medium, and 5 = full.

Example:

This should be put into a proper tool like Qlik Sense

I agree. For example - I would like to tease apart ratings and flavor data for regular production vs. EL/ER cigars. Chocolate is appearing in too many brand profiles because it's such a strong factor in many ELs.

I miss the old Czar deck. Also miss the guest reviewers. Ken and Rob is a staple. I also liked Smith of course as well as Bster and Artie. And who was the young kid that Rob said had a good palate?

Minismithy! He worked at Czars for a while, from what I could tell from the videos. No idea beyond that.

BTW, I'd also added review location to the data. (Ken's deck has been the site for 51% of reviews. I did not count the number of leaf blower appearances.)

How bout drink pairing? Or how many times they drank the same wine in different reviews. I'm guessing none. Also, the amount of times they drank non alcoholic beverages in their reviews. I'm guessing none on that as well.

Sigh. Alright. On the list for the next 33 hour playthrough of the reviews:

* List of songs played in the background

* Drink pairings

* Ken's footwear selection

i'm stunned.

i knew rob gave out good marks like candy.

On the contrary! Rob has awarded 94+ points 12% of the time, whereas you have done so 20% of the time. Smithy's the real scrooge, only awarding that kind of score 3% of the time.

Perhaps a more revealing answer to Ken's question is to show the reviewers' score quartiles. If you count up all the views, what's the score after you've counted 25% of them, then 50%, then 75%, then all of them?

Created this graph and added it to the "Ratings Graphs" section.

As you can see, Rob's a touch more generous than Ken at the half-way point, but in the third and fourth point, Ken's a full point more generous. neutral.gif

In other news, I added two more graphs which may be of passing interest. First, locations...

Secondly, and more sadly, review frequency over the years...

Do the guys favor aged cigars?

post-25409-0-55742700-1444695638_thumb.p

Answer: only a little. Most cigars smoked are young, and many of the young cigars score quite well, despite their youth. But age does seem to increase scores by a couple points, with diminishing returns around 10 years.

Off the top of my head I think you, rob and smithy (possibly Warren?) did a Churchill taste off. Also I think I remember you and rob testing the Tampa blends at something like 9am?

Amateur, if at all. I just like data.

Just a amateur? Well excellent and extensive work! Thanks for all your efforts.

Is there much mention of aging in the reviews?

It would be a great spread sheet recommended aging of individual vitolas...

Yes, yes, yes. The stats are all great, but how does it all correlate to the length of women's skirts, the length of men's beards and the price of gold? lol3.gif

Yes, sometimes. I endeavored to make note of such predictions in the text summaries.

Stats have been updated with this week's review.

Sorry, Ken, I don't yet have stats on the number of times you've made a plea for individual roller codes. I'll get that into the next update. As recompense, I'll offer this graph of footwear choices over the years:
