I'm confused as well. Is it new or same as last years? The commercial makes it seem like it's new but not sure.

Recorded it.....will watch it in the morning; I'm sure it's GREATok.gif

It was very good. And was a new episode. He gives a good insight on the current mood of the people in Cuba with the current warming of diplomatic relations.

Yes, this was 2015 new release, and he covered how there are growing numbers of private entrepreneurs in Cuba, now that some government regulations are being relaxed.

I will have to watch on Demand tonight, I did not see it. Really? no mention or lighting up of cigars in Cuba!!??

Saw him perform at the State Theater in Minneapolis this summer... What a riot. Watched the special last night and really liked it. I saw a cigar in his mouth and that was encouraging. He feels like he has to protect his image about debauchery, being married and becoming a father and that is smart. I think the eating, drinking, smoking elements are what make his adventures so much fun to watch. The fact that people all over the world love to have fun and at times, just hit it too hard is universal. That is also encouraging.

I was disappointed there was no cigar exploration as well. Would have been neat to see him visit a la casa del habano or tour a factory.

There was absolutely no way CNN was ever going to include anything to do with tobacco in this, or any other report, because it doesn't fit into the political narrative. It doesn't matter that if you are playing a word association game and say "Cuban" 9 out of 10 people will most likely say "Cigars."

There was no mention of cigars in the previous show either, so I don't know if AB isn't a fan, despises them himself or is being managed by producers. Either way, not including something about Cuba's largest export is kind of a big miss if you are a "journalist", yes?

Its not him, on the Montreal episode he is shown sharing a box of Partagas with some guys while ice fishing and makes a point to let everyone know they are Cuban.

On another note, while I like Bourdain, I'm getting tired of the whole "now that we show/allow Americans, they will come ruin it" with regards to every place he visits.

That makes no sense. He has another thing he does with Balvenie Whisky where he goes around and does interviews with people who are craft based. I think the series is Raw Craft. Here's a link to the one he did on whisky:

I have to think that Cuban Cigar making is very craft oriented, so it must have been the producers who shut him down.

I did an online search on Tivo and set up a recording for Oct. 1.

Even if there's no CCs, I think I would enjoy watching.

Loved his first book many years ago "Kitchen Confidential" and ate at his restaurant when he actually worked there.

Who cares if there were no cigars? The episode was entertaining, informative, showed many types of Cuban food and was just enjoyable to watch. Really liked the part about the group of guys that bring the old V8 powered cars out to a quiet street and go drag racing! Never expected to see that in Cuba. We need to see more shows like this that show us folks that have never been what it is like there.

Damn... Missed it!

Don't worry - it'll be rerun multiple times

Love the boy! Can't wait to see the episode! I read his pre-premier write up on it, He sounded very proud of it so I'm hoping I can hunt it down somewhere.

Just caught the rerun of this from the other night. And yes, new(er) episode, filmed earlier this year, talking about modern paladars and the like.

I also have to agree - don't mind that there were no cigars. Bourdain is about travel, people, food, booze, and culture. I don't think cigars when I think about Bourdain. So, I like that he explored and covered mostly all BUT cigars; it was a nice change, in that you didn't see a squished segment about cigars, just because it's about Cuba (so some producer thinks "we have to do something about cigars", when meanwhile they might not know **** about them).

It was a worthwhile watch.
