It always astounds me how one can go to a sacred pilgrimage and trample over others. Towards the end of the Hajj pilgrimage there is this thing called the Tawaf, where everyone must circumambulate around the Kaaba 7 times. The "7 times" thing is marked by the black stone which is on one corner of the kaaba, so you are supposed to walk passed the stone 7 times. A recommended practise is to touch the stone, but as you can imagine the massive crowds make this difficult. It does not however stop hoardes of people pushing others, including women and children, out of the way in order to get to the said stone.

Ah, religion: the yearning of the soul towards something greater, like a flower to the sun. So sad when human short-comings mar the Great Work.

Very sad- may these souls rest in peace. I have read over a few articles about the incident. Can someone who has been there shed more light on how this happens so easily? I can't wrap my mind around how nearly 1,000 people are killed like this? not to mention at a religious, holy site were people are supposed to be mindful.

Respect and love for the fellow man rules every time, irrespective of religion.

No disrespect to those who lost their lives or were injured. I'm not Christian nor Muslim.. if my "joke" was straddling the line of funny and offensive my apologies to anyone that was offended, was not my intentions to offend.
