anacostiakat Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 offensive line and QB coach is very positive but why the new defensive coach, especially with some of the talent out there? why a guy who last went 0-16 instead of someone like wade phillips? it seems clear that there is no way gruden and rg3 can continue to co-exist. i suspect we'll eventually lose both. gruden seems unwilling or incapable or attempting to tailor the offense to suit rg3. which makes no sense to me at all. rg3 might have issues but why not work with him to get the best out of him. gruden seems to think rg3 has to become a completely different QB - a lot easier said. i'd be very happy to wake up and read that gruden was gone. rather have winnie the poo. Well there is the puzzle. Haslett had to go after such a horrible defense. Even though I would say that if your talent level is so poor there really isn't a whole lot you can do. Poor talent and converting defensive scheme didn't add up. That being said, I agree that I was surprised and disappointed with the Joe Barry pick but I think him and Gruden know each other and like each other. So I guess we will have to see how that goes. I further agree (this is dangerous LOL) about RG3 and Gruden. This season will make or break them both. I have no idea how this will play out. The RG3 situation seems much more clear cut than Gruden given that he was saddled with coaches not of his own choosing initially. The best I can say is we'll see.....
ayepatz Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Then there's the small matter of the Rugby World Cup. Scotland stand as fair a chance as any of clinching the runners-up spot in Pool B, which the Springboks are clear favourites to win. USA, Japan, and particularly Samoa are potential banana-skins for us, but if the fitness and discipline hold up, we should make it through.
brutusthebuckeye Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Josh Mccown will be the 23rd starting QB for browns since 1999... When will the madness end...
stunod Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Giants Have no real hope of anything other than a top 3 in their division. With JPP blowing up his hand and the only other talk being a potential long term, super expensive contract extension for Eli- seriously, for all he's done before he is 35 and won't get better - I'm not sure Giants are going to be very exciting this year. OBJ will be fun to see how he develops, but it requires getting good passes to work with... Chelsea Seem stable enough to challenge for some silverware, both domestically and in Europe. I disagree. I think the Giants arguably have the best receiving corps in football. Eli will have another year to learn the new system, Spagnola is the new Defensive Coordinator and I have a big bet in Vegas on the Giants to win the NFC. I need to feel the good vibes. Did I mention the bet.

bigben Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Just sat down to watch the HOF game. Go Steelers!
Ken Gargett Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Too funny had to share it. i love it! and a glorious start to the EPL by the gunners. seriously? at home, playing some mob from the 3rd division and that happens. a disgrace. overpaid, overhyped rubbish. who do they think they are? the aussie cricket team. serve them right if they fell a point or two short of winning the entire thing. fat chance on this display.
skalls Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Anyone else just hate the preseason games as much as I do? They are just so pointless.
Fosgate Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 I agree Skalls. Almost seems to be a waste especially when you see a player get injured and sidelined for the season or even a few games.
Ken Gargett Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 I agree Skalls. Almost seems to be a waste especially when you see a player get injured and sidelined for the season or even a few games. you don't need pre-season games. we have the wonderful desean announce that neither revis nor sherman can stop him. then he runs into a tackling bag that does stop him for a month or two. just special.

Conceding two completely inexcusable goals? Well, we knew that part wasn't changing. But they were completely toothless and lacked any real ideas in attack. They retain meaningless possession that serves no purpose, and posed no actual threat to West Ham's back line. Even if they hadn't let in those two awful goals, it would have been a far too comfortable 0-0 at the Emirates for a pretty meager opponent. Giroud and Ozil were completely useless, Ramsey and Cazorla failed to make their mark on the match, and they got nothing from Alexis and Walcott when they came on. It all seems to be in the head with this lot. They clearly felt good about their preseason results. Embarrassing that a side of this quality is so susceptible to believing their own hype. Wenger's players have let him down yet again, but he surely bears some responsibility as well. Benzema would certainly help matters, as they're in dire need of an upgrade at center forward. But I'm far more concerned about the mental makeup of this team. They're clearly lacking that edge required to win the league. Just never know when they'll fold like they did yesterday.

I didn't mean to be critical of Alexis. I think it was a mistake to even have him in the team if he had only been back for a week. The original plan was to bring him back later in the month. He deserved the time off after the shift he put in last year, and winning Copa America in the summer. Arsenal clearly need him to be fit if they're to be any threat to Chelsea or City this season. He may be the best player in the league. Risking him when he's not ready to play could have made a bad situation infinitely worse. Although I guess the flip side is if he leads a comeback, he's the hero, and it's a great call from Wenger. I'll admit there's some hindsight involved on my part. That performance was beyond frustrating. The fact that it wasn't even the slightest bit surprising only adds insult.
CaptainQuintero Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 The most worrying thing at arsenal seems to be the complete lack of grit in the team, there's no one to take the game by the scruff of the neck and push the team on. A decade on and viera still hasn't been replaced. 1

A decade on and viera still hasn't been replaced. Wenger's spent the vast majority of that decade believing Abou Diaby would fill Viera's role. Wilshere has shown flashes, but obviously he's never healthy, either. Would like to see more of that from Ramsey, but he goes missing in games for long stretches. 1
brutusthebuckeye Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 I see RG3 is in mid season form...Go Browns...
Ken Gargett Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 I see RG3 is in mid season form...Go Browns... as someone who has defended rg3 regularly, there was little to be happy about with that. hard to sugarcoat it. and made so much worse because yet again he opened his trap and made himself look silly. he does not seem to realise that giving long involved explanations of things does not work. the press take a line here or there and twist for all they are worth. i know what he meant and good on him for wanting to be the best but he really needs shut up. a lot of what happened was because the lions poured through the appalling O line but he can't keep taking those hits. it was not pretty.
brutusthebuckeye Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 How bout the 2012 draft... RGIII..Cancer Trent Richardson...better at making pornos than running with football(cut by Raiders today) Justin Blackmon.....druggie..out of league..
