KGM Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Kind of opposite to Rob's post on flops, I'm considering the idea of starting to pick up a box or two every few months for long term ageing. I've got a cab of HQ PLPC (thanks FoH) napping for 5 years since everyone says they are great at that time. But that's about it. I'm wondering what else I should consider in the "every day" category for some longer term ageing. Not looking for the high dollar items, but more the normal, to mid-tier stuff. For example Siglo are much more in my price range than Behike. I'm a bit of a cheap bastige, which I guess works well with my preferred PC, CG, Robusto sizes over the more expensive larger stick. Would love any recommendations. Thanks!
Maplepie Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 El Rey del Mundo Demi Tasse and H. Upmann Epicures. Chuck a box of each in there every year under your humidor and it'll start to pay off in 2-4 years. They're normally $70-$90 each. So very worth it in my opinion. Now, if you live in a very warm country, you may consider some larger cigars. But these are almost perfect for sitting out in -5 degree C weather for 30-45 minutes. 1
Colt45 Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 I've got a cab of HQ PLPC (thanks FoH) napping for 5 years since everyone says they are great at that time. It may go against conventional wisdom, but I've no problem setting aside a fiver to smoke over time to see how things might evolve for myself. 1
coug28 Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Quai d'orsay coronas Cohiba Siglo IV PL Picadores RASS 1
Smallclub Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Not looking for the high dollar items, but more the normal, to mid-tier stuff. Partagas Super Partagas, Partagas de Luxe, Partagas Aristocrats, Partagas Petit Coronas Especiales, RASCC, Quai d'Orsay corona, ERDM demi tasse, Bolivar pc... All very affordable, excellent with age. 2
KGM Posted July 29, 2015 Author Posted July 29, 2015 Thanks all! While adding new "targets" does not make my CC happy, it does make the 24:24 more fun! Had been planning for some Siglo and RASS, interesting to see the Quai d'Orsay recommended. I have one from a sampler I still need to try. As well, with some semi-cold winters here, those quick smoke Demi Tasse might be a good double duty option too!
potpest Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Quai D'orsay Coronas and Hoyo Des Dieux for me are unreal after 10 years. I can take them or leave them with less than 5 years down but beyond that they are some of the best I've ever had 1
treberty Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Flor de Cano Selectos when you can find some... RASCC, Hoyo du Maire, Partagas Aristocrats... many other good options suggested above as well. 1

maxcjs0101 Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Imo, most Partagas and Bolivars would be good when aged for 5 years.
treberty Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I wish the CoRo or any other Cohibas were my every day cigar ;-) Cohiba Robustos, Sig 1-6, Esplendidos. All kick in around 5 years. Imo
