Habana Mike Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Check this: http://qz.com/435662/a-sea-of-chinese-tourists-is-about-to-descend-on-cuba/ They're already planning to double the number of golf courses almost immediately!
avaldes Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 I saw a preview for a new "Hot Rod" show based in Cuba. So it would seem that those plans have been in the works for some time.
Ken Gargett Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 when we started going to cuba, i think they only had one golf course in the entire country and a pretty average one at that. i suspect doubling that won't destroy the country. but thin edge of the wedge.

Yeah, still just the one. With the new one China's financing, that'll be two - twice as many
Ken Gargett Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Yeah, still just the one. With the new one China's financing, that'll be two - twice as many mind you, in cuban terms, chaos!
Orion21 Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 They will need to double the production of fake Esplendidos as well 4
Lotusguy Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Hope they all go to Cuba - so I can go into a designer store in Europe again without getting run over by the mob...
CatchNRelease Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 I really want to go to Cuba. But if it turns into a larger tijuana before I get there I'm gonna be really pissed. Leave it to Americans to screw up a beautiful place
El Presidente Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 I really want to go to Cuba. But if it turns into a larger tijuana before I get there I'm gonna be really pissed. Leave it to Americans to screw up a beautiful place The place beautiful but has been screwed for a loooooooong time! If...and it is a big "IF"....the Cuban Government manages the opportunities that investment and tourism growth brings via tight central planning, it will be a boom for Cubans and tourists from all over the world alike. A big "IF". 1
CatchNRelease Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Fair enough, and you have the advantage of seeing it from an angle that other tourists do not so I hope that we [future tourists] have the opportunity to experience Cuba at its peak and not degraded to the place that parts of the DR is right now. To be honest, most Americans have a very vague view of what Cuba actually is. It varies from a glorious place that is stuck in the 1950s to a wasteland that is mired by an oppressive government. I just hope our influence only makes it better not worse.
mikemerry Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Cuba for me is place without a lot of american influences. Which I love and I hope stays that way. To me it's what separates it from Jamaica and the DR. Not to mention a million other reasons but from a culture perspective that is something I really enjoy. Can't wait to go back!! Scroats Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 So I've been debating this in my head. Is it worth rearranging a trip planned to cali in September to go to Cuba before things change? If not I was planning on trying next year

kuma Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 yes I remember being in barcelona 2011 and in camper shoe store with wife and as she s trying on a pair of camper shoes one foot has a shoe on it and as the sale clerk is attempting to put the other shoe on my wifes foot the store gets bum rushed by these little ole chinese women (20 or so) and they grab the shoe right out of the store clerks hand and attempted to try it on. have watched some of them flying for the first time 14 hrs from narita airport japan to jfk ny and 3 or 4 passengers pucking and being down and out sick. i could tell when in flight for about 30 min. that i was on a co-chair flight and the asians on this plane were not japanese by their very bad manners. walking around the plane in bare feet. shoes resting on seats, etc, etc, etc....enough said! they have a lot of catching up to do. I guess it will be overrun by the time the american gov. lets americans fly there without any of the tens reasons now needed to go to cuba.
Colt45 Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 America this, Americans that..... It will be up to Cuba and Cubans as to what happens in their country. If that goes against what outsiders feel Cuba should be or remain, TFB - deal with it. It's nice to see that some things seem to have changed for the better over the past year or so.......
Habana Mike Posted July 5, 2015 Author Posted July 5, 2015 So I've been debating this in my head. Is it worth rearranging a trip planned to cali in September to go to Cuba before things change? If not I was planning on trying next year Sooner's probably better than later. Cali won't change nearly as much in that timeframe!
