DCigar Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 On a few occasions I've had cigars with a tear in the wrapper at the tip (end you light, hope i got that right!). It doesn't seem to cause any problems, normally I just light regardless or cut a small section off. Couple of questions, is that the right thing to do? And what might cause the tear in the first place? Here is a pic!
shlomo Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Its just a cracked foot. Happenes when cigars are banged around a bit. Not ever a big deal unless the split or crack is really big. Just light and smoke. Don't play with it.
garbandz Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 # 1 cause is dumping cigars into a too moist environment. The "foot " will be loose and squishy feeling due to the stick absorbing moisture too rapidly. #2 cause is rough handling, improper packing from a friend who mailed it to you.Looks like you may have a combination of both in your pic....... Cigars need time to gain moisture without swelling,it should be the same to dry them down.......... Don't bother to cut it off,you may cause more damage, light it up and learn from it............ 2
JohnnyO Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Travel/movement tend to be the cause. In my experience this crack will get worse over time in the humi so these types of cigars need to be smoked 1st. This is one of the reasons why I like shagfoots, the damage is limited. John 1

This...Maybe I'm a glass half full guy, but I always look at this as an opportunity to light up the damaged cigar and smoke it. Gotta put that guy out of his misery
Popular Post GasGuy82 Posted April 29, 2015 Popular Post Posted April 29, 2015 If I open a box I had planned to lay down for a while and see a stick with a split foot, I immediately use it as an excuse the light up that stick for "research" purposes. 5
Geo17pip Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Just dip it in a glass of water.... Jk jk jk lol

nikesupremedunk Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 On the foot is no problem. If it's in the middle of the cigar then that may turn into a problem.
LeafLover Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 I'll take a cracked foot over a tight draw any day. Cracked feet is nothing. Burn right past it.
JohnS Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 The only thing I could add to this discussion is that despite the cracked foot, it could be best cigar you've ever tasted!
DCigar Posted April 30, 2015 Author Posted April 30, 2015 Is that a Padron out of curiosity? Choix Supreme
CanuckSARTech Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Send a nasty e-mail to Rob, bitching over cracked feet, and demand a full refund or else you'll tell all your "friends" about what a shoddy business Rob is running (even if you didn't buy them from him, LOL). [Yes, sarcasm included in the above. Kind of a tongue in cheek reference to past activities, LOL.]
