It's that time. Been an expat for a bit more than four years.

Wife and I are heading back to the states, SoCal to be exact.

Leaving the island near the end of this month and should settle in out there by mid June or so.

Bittersweet for sure. It will be nice to see some things that have been in storage for four years plus though but paying taxes again will suck.

Enjoy SoCal! A big change.

Thought you American's had to pay taxes (at least file) no matter where you lived.

Wife and I both lived there before. It should be a relatively easy transition back into society.

Another adventure. From Island paradise to so-cal. Not so bad from my Minnesota perspective. Safe travels to you and Laura and good luck with the new job. I know you'll do well as you alway do. Danas sister lives in LaMasa (burb of SD) so once again our paths will cross.

I hope so and I am so glad we had a chance to visit with you on your way through the island! Once we get set up in SoCal I will let you know!

Where in SoCal are you landing?

Well that's the rub. Last time I was there I lived in old town torrance which I loved. Good weather and close to everything I needed. Will be working out of home office and now that I have a wife in tow, we (she) wants a larger house with 3-4 rooms. We aren't planning on buying at the moment so it's likely someplace like Murrieta. Upside no commute. Downside is heat and it's way the crap out there. Wife does need easy ish access to San Diego so it works for her too. I'm non plussed about it but I only pay the bills so what do I know.

When are you departing GC? Was thinking a quick trip to a Caribbean island with the wife in the next couple of weeks at my daughter's urging - says we need a romantic getaway.

Small world. I grew up in South Torrance and lived in old town for a few years on Marcellina Ave in the late 70s / early 80s.

Good luck on your move, I still have family in Temecula..... North County San Diego is a great place to

live.
