Went to my fortress of solitude to enjoy a Saturday afternoon. Planned to watch a documentary or two and enjoy a cigar and a dram. Began with a SLR Churchill, a pour of Pierre Ferrand Cognac, and a mediocre documentary.

On my last third and it's time for a new documentary. So I see one titled "Tim's Vermeer." One of the best documentaries I've ever watched. Penn & Teller created a documentary about a friends quest to recreate a Vermeer masterpiece!

After I finished the SLR I set flame to a Montecristo Especial and poured a second Ferrand. Absolutely amazing. I wanted to thank our host for selecting the cigars that I had an opportunity to enjoy and Penn & Teller for an amazing film.

Even if you are not interested in art or documentaries I would encourage everyone to watch the film...I found it on-demand.

Wilkey, if you haven't watched it I highly recommend it especially to you.

Tim's Vermeer was fantastic! Have never had the pleasure of smoking a SLR Churchill, but sounds awesome, wonder how close the DCs are to it?

Hahahaha, I wish I could help but I've never had the DC! The SLR Churchill was under medium with light wood notes and tea. Very much a finesse cigar. I didn't taste any stone fruit, which I hear is common with SLRs, but loved the smoke.

Great story thanks for sharing.

My fortress of solitude is my garage in the winter. Put a TV and heater in there, comfortable chair and do much the same thing. Love to watch the History channel or national geographic and enjoy a wonderful smoke with beverage of choice, single malt, nice wine, microbrew beer.

Always wondered why Bobby sang that one instead of Jerry. I know Bobby sang most of the Dylan tunes, but that one was made for Jerry. The Jerry versions of it out there are sublime.

I don't disagree with your point re: the Dead, but to me, that tune was made for Levon Helm.

Of course you're right. Levon was the best. Always sorry I never made it up to his barn for a Ramble. Had some friends who were lucky enough to get to one. He was one of a kind, and made magic right up to the end.

Ha I wish. Tried for tickets but not willing to pay secondary market prices. That's an awful lot of money to hear Bobby and Phil sing one last time. Sure it will be a great time, wish I could be there, but will have to make do with memories and tapes.

The Rolling Stones are rumored to be playing here July 4, and if that pans out, I'll get in free. So that's an acceptable consolation prize.

Thanks for the heads up on the documentary. It sounds good. I'll have to give it a watch. And glad you had some good CC time!
