Habana Mike Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Glad I beat the rush.....barely! Well at least it will be easier than last time perhaps. Less expensive, doesn't look like it. 1
Olga Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 The article says, Officially, US travellers are still not allowed to enter the country as tourists but it is now possible to visit Cuba without having to apply for a special licence and wait for government approval. Does this mean, anyone in the US can go without a special permit? 1
polarbear Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Does this mean Aussies could fly from Melbourne/Sydney into NY and then catch a connection into Havana?
JohnS Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Americans can't go as tourists but they can go under the 12 reasons listed below. Do you qualify? 1. Family visits 2. Official business of the U.S. government, foreign governments, and certain intergovernmental organizations 3. Journalistic activity 4. Professional research and professional meetings 5. Educational activities 6. Religious activities 7. Public performances, clinics, workshops, athletic and other competitions, and exhibitions 8. Support for the Cuban people 9. Humanitarian projects 10. Activities of private foundations or research or educational institutes 11. Exportation, importation, or transmission of information or information materials 12. Certain export transactions that may be considered for authorization under existing regulations and guidelines.
semifan1 Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Hell # 8 is being a tourist by bringing more money in to spend.
madandana Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Nice about more flights being added. Not a lot has changed other than that.,You could declare your own general license before December.
Lant63 Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 I support the cuban people, and their cigars. Sent by telepathic super powers -Stogie Boy 2
Scroats Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Do instagram cigar selfies count for "journalistic activity"? 4

JohnS Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 I suddenly see myself doing mission work. It worked for the Blues Brothers!
cooper669 Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Sounds like 100 customs that I will say are peso cigars. Sent by telepathic super powers -Stogie Boy I think you have to have a receipt, but I'm sure that could be worked out...........
merc Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Sounds like this could potentially reduce travel time for Aussies, assuming you want to fly to Cuba as direct as possible without stopovers to break up the trip.
Duxnutz Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Does this mean Aussies could fly from Melbourne/Sydney into NY and then catch a connection into Havana?I believe this flight by Sun Country Airlines is classified as a charter. A travel company has sold a package (ala Apple Vacations) and is farming out the transport to an airline, so you probably can't buy an individual seat, but by all means might be able to purchase the package. EDIT: Just re-read the article and it does say the travel company is selling seats. Interesting.
