PuroDan Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 What an outstanding cigar. I have smoked a few out of my box in the past couple of weeks. Great construction, burn, and the complex rich meaty taste is to die for. Every time I smoke one I am blown away. 94 point cigar all day long IMO.Starting to think this may be the best of the year for me. What are your thoughts on this cigar?
stogieluver Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 A box of these (same code/date) landed in my humi about two weeks ago. Can't wait to try them now, but will wait a few more weeks. Thanks for the review. 3
TheLiquidGator Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 What Stogieluver said. Mine are resting. Will try one in a few more weeks. They smell and look the part.
MrGTO Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 They suck! I will gladly take all the boxes off of everyone's hands to help all you brothers out. I am truely taking one for the team. 2
Firebender Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 I have been smoking the same box code for last couple of weeks and they are really fantastic!! 1
earthson Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Great change of pace cigar. Kind of a one-trick pony, but if my attention is elsewhere and not on the cigar, it's a winner!
PuroDan Posted March 11, 2015 Author Posted March 11, 2015 Last third to the nub is the best part. Its as if I'm smoking a sweet Cabernet covered in salty chocolate. Simply amazing
PuroDan Posted March 11, 2015 Author Posted March 11, 2015 Great change of pace cigar. Kind of a one-trick pony, but if my attention is elsewhere and not on the cigar, it's a winner! This one trick pony that you describe is a purple unicorn with award winning talents to me. Different strokes for different folks.

kuma Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 2014 had bought a box and they were very good. But if I have a choice I'd rather have a Short Churchill.
cpmurrin Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 like these a lot and have stocked up. surprised how good these are considering how bad ryJ were for years as are some friends i have gifted these to
PuroDan Posted March 11, 2015 Author Posted March 11, 2015 Have you tried the Belicosos? I've heard good things about those if you're into RyJ The thing is I wouldn't consider RyJ as one of my top three marcas. Its just this particular stick, and the RyJ wide that I like. My top 3 Boli, RA, Partagas. Will have to sample a Belicosos sometime.
forgop Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 My box code is POU MAR 13. Only RyJ in my humidor and will likely stay that way.
DWC Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 A brother here gifted me one. After just that one, I bought a box. (Same date/code as OP) Love 'em!
Smallclub Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 What I particularly like in this cigar is the texture and viscosity of the smoke; it often gives me the impression that the smoke is "heavier" than that from other cigars. 2
ErikB Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 I always think of that old gentleman at the Habanos Festival gala dinner. Everyone got offered a petit, short and wide churchill but he was still smoking the complementary EX no 4 while shouting every new churchill release was crap in his book.
JohnS Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 I picked up some POU Jun 2013 RyJ Exhibicion Number 4 which I am very eager to smoke thanks to the high praise on this forum and in this thread!
Geo17pip Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Im very interested in these considering everyone raves about them and I feel they might fit to my tatses being that old school type of habano that people are mentioning it is. How would you describe the flavors and strength of this cigar? I have heard cherry flavors and now sweet cab and chocolate. Any other type fruit flavors do you guys get from this one? How is the aroma? Do you think it would make a good summer cigar? Is it any similar to the Cazadores?
habanolover Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 I'm ashamed to report that I greedily ran through a box of the same code like a hot knife through BUTTA! I like them a lot and must restock... 1
TypicalSituation Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Man, I thought about pulling the trigger when these came up on 24:24. regretting it now. Seems like everyone who is smoking these is raving about them.

How is the aroma? Do you think it would make a good summer cigar? Is it any similar to the Cazadores? To me the first thing I notice is how dense and thick the smoke is;incredibly heavy and velvety. Flavour wise, to me they are of the fermented fruit, tarry/sticky sweet (But not abundantly sweet) side of the ryj spectrum, none of that herbal and vegetal nature from the other extreme. Kind of like a sticky date, overripe plum fruitiness. 1
