bossman3 Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I have a 50-75 count humidor with about 40 sticks inside. I also have 3- 75rh boveda packs AND the humidifier. I'm only getting a reading of 62. What's the problem? Thanks
garbandz Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 need more info... what is ambient temp? what kind of hydro ,digital? does the humi seal well? did you condition it before using? are the cigars in cellophane? Do you want 75% humidity? all of these are important,cannot give a useable answer without them.......... 1

stogieluver Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I like 62%, but you shouldn't normally have to use all of that humidification to maintain 62% in a small humidor. All the questions are valid.
earthson Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Sounds all good to me. I like 62%. Here, here. My target for CC is 60-65%. 65% in the winter since the furnace makes the air so dry and 60% in the summer since the humidity here is obscene. 1
CaptainQuintero Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 If you've that level of humidifying packs in then in all likelihood you probably are at the specified 75%rh and its just your hygrometer out. Unless you spend big bucks they are all inaccurate to up to 5%. Best bet is to buy three, calibrate them all with 75% boveda packs then use them to run an average. Humidors need weeks if not months to settle down too. 2
earthson Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Humidors need weeks if not months to settle down too. This! Although hygrometers will measure fluctuations and changes in air RH rapidly, the wood of the humi and the cigars all take their own time to achieve equilibrium.

Well if you do..... place all ur cigars to one side put the divider in and buy a pound of 65rh beads from heartfelt with a 1 pound screened bag (pour as many beads can towards that one side of ur humidor and boom you never have to do nothing again besides recharge the beads once a year

I would personally recommend getting rid of that and either sticking to Boveda ($$$) or getting some beads calibrated to your desired RH. 1
dchapman Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 The use of Boveda packets and a humidifier may also be causing or contributing to the problem. It's been my experience that Boveda packets work best when used without other types of humidification devices.

It's a bit of overkill for a 50ct humidor. I'd also recommend buying aquarium filter bio-bags from a pet store. They're the exact same mesh nylon bags for a lot cheaper.
