AlBaron Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum, this is my first topic. Earlier today I received my first shipment of the CCs (unfortunately I placed the order before I found this site, so it was made not from the hosts of this forum). As you can see from the image, I got (what I thought was) a pretty good variety of cigars. I plan to give them at least a few week's rest in the humidor, as their journey was almost 3 weeks (after making their way across the ocean, they got stuck in NY for over a week because of the blizzard there). What I'm looking for is a recommendation on which ones to try first. The background information is as follows: long time cigarette smoker (quit a year ago), been smoking NC cigars for a couple of months. Favorite NCs so far are definitely Arturo Fuente Anejo, Short Story, Flor de Las Antillas, Curivari Buenaventura, also enjoy LP N9 (somewhat), Oliva Serie G Maduro and LP Papas Frittas Thanks much, Alex
Habanos2000 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Nice selection Alex. I'd suggest going from mild to full body. From what I can see: Juan Lopez, SP, SC, Trinidad ERdM, HU, HdM, Robaina, Punch Partagas, Boli, RA I'd toss the Vegueros, but that's just me. Enjoy!

I guess this shows that I really don't know anything when it comes to this - what's wrong with the background? It's simply part of the packaging of the shipment...

I personally would try the HDM Epicure 2, Bolivar Belicoso Finos and the VR Unicos but that's because I like those. Especially the Unicos and BBF Either way enjoy, take notes and perhaps post a review if you can.

CaptainQuintero Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 They all look great, just pick any which you like the look of, some will her mild and some medium full, Cuba does mild and medium cigars like no one else so don't be put off if the cigars don't knock your palette out, look for the delicate flavours. Still just enjoy them, like someone mentioned above while smoking keep a sheet of paper and hot down any flavours you pick out, it will help you when purchasing more in The future when deciding what you enjoy plus it trains the palette, fun looking back to your first cigars and looking how you're ability to taste changes too
actzz541 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 thats a fine selection for your first go my man! The more rest the better, but Id say light one up. The Epi 2 and BBF are two of my every day go to's. Some of your NC choices are on the full body side, so do know youre more in the mild/medium realm here. Dont let that deter you though, you'll love them!
finecigar Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Not to be a downer but that SP Belicoso looks fishy. I've never seen them faked before but maybe a rebanding job. The SP should be the same size as the Bolivar BF, and it looks to be nearly larger than the Unicos! I would measure these. Bolivar and SP should be 5,5" by 52 ring both :/
earthson Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I would start with the Hoyo and the H Upmann Mag since they smoke better without aging (after 30 days or so in the humi of course). The San Cristobal should be good to go, too. I would definitely save the Ramon Allones as long as you can stand it - they need some time from boxcode to lose their harshness and begin showing the flavors that make them my favorite brand. The Partagas would also benefit from some down time. I have no experience with Sancho Panza or the Vegueros, so don't know how they will perform.

Agree with giving them a month to rest before smoking after arriving but I know in reality its difficult when you're excited! 6 months is what I usually rest things but again reality doesn't usually help when you're excited, I've always been disappointed when I have smoked cigars without at least a months rest though. Sounds like you've got that sussed though
