wondering if any other fans of miyazaki's work out there?

our local SBS station recently showed around half a dozen.

they have shown them all, or almost all, over the years. must say i find them extraordinary films. can watch them time after time.

one of those things that can appeal to children and adults.

i think 'spirited away' probably my fave but 'porco rosso' pretty close - have not seen it for many years but i remember driving through the outskirts of barcelona a few years back and as we passed a shop, i noticed that they had a full sized replica of porco for sale. last thing i expected.

anyone any other faves?

I agree they all are extraordinary. Spirited was the first I saw. Holds a special place. Only recently saw Porci thought it was pretty good. Quite comical. I also enjoy Howl's Moving Castle and Nausica. Castle in the sky as well. Cool concepts that in many ways are timeless.

Fan right here as well, yes Spirited Away started it all for alot of us, other great titles to enjoy (if you haven't watched already):
Princess Mononoke
My Neighbor Totoro
I haven't watched The Secret World of Arrietty but read it's also good.

mononoke is another excellent one. and love the catbus in totoro.

I'm also a fan of the Studio Ghibli films. Like you guys, my family all enjoy Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke and My Neighbour Totoro the most. I must add that Grave of the Fireflies stands out as the most unique Studio Ghibli film for me for two reasons: one, Isao Takahata directed it and two, its subject matter is serious and profound. It's a shame that Hayao Miyazaki has retired now as his son's films don't live up to the quality his father's films have attained.

Only stumbling across this great now.

Massive Miyazaki fan, I'm slowly building a collection of his films for my newborn son to watch as soon as he's able.

Princess Mononoke is my favourite, followed closely by spirited away.

Very touching films

I'd fall inline with the above. They're just good films. They can go in a lot of different directions and I enjoy the occasional quirk that shows up in his films. And there seems to be a good message behind them.
