La grande bellezza (The Great Beauty) is a modern take on this iconic Italian film about Italian society after World War II, but it seems to me that some (fine) things never change. A dreadfully beautiful and mesmerizing place only matched by the frustrating sadness it shows coming for the rest of the world.. You cannot leave italy without being deeply, personally touched and humbled by it... just like you can't leave without admiring the healthy adoration and resentment the people for italy hold for it.
