This Ol' Wheel Shooter Jennings

Now fast forward to about 2000 and 3
I'm standin' on the corner of Hollywood and Vine
Just a six string and me
And that capitol building
Lookin' up at that thing
Wonderin' when am I gonna get my chance to sing
But faced with that kind of predicament it'd be pretty hard not to get choked up
When every hero I've had died and every band I had broke up
I'm invited to a party and I just can't come cause I know that once I'm in I can't pull out till I'm done

This 'ol wheel keeps on rollin' down the road
This 'ol wheel keeps on rollin' down the road

All the elevator buttons

So incredibly high

I stand today for the midget

Half the size of a regular guy

Let me hold you Midget man

As the parade passes by

Let me hold you Midget man

We'll make believe you can fly

You shout for me to put you down

But I'm marching today for your cause

I'm bangin' the drum, your big day will come

When they remake the wizard of oz

So let me hold you midget man

Pretend that you're flyin' in space

Let me hold you little man

So the dog will stop licking your face

Little shoes, little pants

Little song, little dance

Little heart, little mind

But your rights are as big as mine

Thank God I'm tall, I won't let you fall

We're all midgets, for one and for all

Thank God I'm tall, I won't let you fall

We're all midgets and some are just small

Stand up for the little people

whistle.gif Keep your hand on your gun

Don't you trust anyone

There's just one kind of man that you can trust, that's a dead man -

OR a gringo like me

Be the first one to fire

Every man is a liar

There's just one kind of man who tells the truth, that's a dead man -

Or a gringo like me

*Don't be a fool for a smile or a kiss, or your bullet might miss, keep your eye on your gold

There's just one rule that will save you your life, that's a hand on your knife, and the Devil in your soul

Keep your hand on your gun, don't you trust anyone. There's just one kind of man that you can trust, That's a dead man

Or a gringo like me. Or a gringo like me. Like me. Like me

livin' easy

lovin' free
season ticket on a one way ride
askin' nothin'
leave me be
takin' everythin' in my stride
don't need reason
don't need rhyme
ain't nothin' that I’d rather do
goin' down
party time
my friends are gonna be there too
I’m on the highway to hell

Hands down most memorable. Originally written and performed by Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails. When Johnny Cash put his spin on it, turned it into a video and he and his wife died it was the talk of the town. It was classy to see the video placed on the MTV music awards even though it did not win Justin Timberlake was taken enough by the video, music and timing that he said Johnny Cash deserved it much more than he. Growing up watching Johnny Cash and knowing his image, his defiance of Nashville and a legend as the man in black, I saw many old cowboys captivated by the video and were just silent afterwards.

"Hurt"

I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing that's real
The needle tears a hole
The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
But I remember everything

What have I become?
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know
Goes away in the end
You could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt

I wear this crown of ****
Upon my liar's chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
Beneath the stains of time
The feelings disappear
You are someone else
I am still right here

What have I become?
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know
Goes away in the end

You could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt
If I could start again
A million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a way

When Johnny Cash put his spin on it, turned it into a video and he and his wife died it was the talk of the town

Kris Krisofferson did this song a while back about seeing Cash in a recording studio and he "was just a step away from dying". Very good talent in this and bonechilling poetry:

If you waste your time a-talking to the people who don't listen

to the things that you are saying who do you think's gonna hear?

And if you should die explaining how the things that they complain about

are things they could be changing, who do you think's gonna care?
