mk05 Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 Anyone here have any great connections with a Montreal hotel? Good recommendation for a group? 1
shlomo Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 Depends what you want to do when you are here and what part of the city you want to stay in
LLC Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Nice to stay walking distance to the LCDH if you like a great atmosphere for a cigar. It is in the downtown core.
imangelo Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Nice hotel, 2 minute walk from Stogies: Lowes Hotel Vogue Nice hotel, close to Stogies, a bit pricier: Le Crystal (Across from the Bell Centre). Talk to Zoe Pelletier if you decide to go here. Cheap option, european style, not as good for groups: Celebrities
LordAnubis Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 I'll be there from 7th to 11th November. Il be staying at a hostel though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
meatball41 Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 the only time I've been there was in the late 90's for business for a couple weeks. We stayed at the Marriott Chateau Champlain downtown, it was great! Subway station in the hotel, you can go anywhere very easily, old town is close by, we walked to dinner almost every night. concierge had the hockey ticket hook up, awesome seats for the habs games. Montreal is a great city, very european feel without the 7 hour plane ride. Poutin is the greatest fast food ever invented, only time I've ever had it, still crave it. REAL Canadian beer and ice wine are a must try . ( Canadian beer in Canada is completely different than what they export, WAY better in Canada, just my opinion though) I may have just talked myself into going back next time the local herf is on, that would be killer! 2
mk05 Posted November 1, 2014 Author Posted November 1, 2014 Haha I had poutine in DC, will have to try the MTL version. Is there a specific area of MTL that is recommended to stay/go out in? Can't wait to go to Joe Beef.

Grab a couple Bixi bikes (rental bicycles) if it's not too cold and take a tour around the city. Montreal is VERY bicycle friendly and possibly the best way to get around.

I remember back near Bastille Day, Tom (Toronto) was telling us about their Foie Gras poutine and how he ate 3 of them. I've still had one........

shlomo Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 People bike around even in January. But they are morons.
mk05 Posted November 1, 2014 Author Posted November 1, 2014 I'll be there in Jan, aka Mars. Wot. "The temperature on Mars may reach...a low of about -225 degrees Fahrenheit (-153 degrees Celsius) at the poles. Obviously this is very inhospitable for humans." http://quest.nasa.gov/aero/planetary/mars.html
imangelo Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Damn. Montreal is ruthlessly cold that time of year! I say get a hotel that's REALLY close to Stogies and camp out there
Maplepie Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 "The temperature on Mars may reach...a low of about -225 degrees Fahrenheit (-153 degrees Celsius) at the poles. Obviously this is very inhospitable for humans." Bloody hell.... There are less obtuse ways to say that
CanuckSARTech Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Get Simon / "Strada" to help you out. The Square Phillips Hotel. Great place.
