El Presidente Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 ...and I had no idea there was even a quota! http://www.telesurtv.net/english/news/Mexico-and-Cuba-to-Expand-Trade-Relations-20141008-0007.html
polarbear Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Can I just point out that in an article about Cuban Cigars the photo toping the article is a bunch of Cigars from the Dom Republic 2
garbandz Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 That's the media for you, they do not care about facts, they just want to be first............... I wonder if Mexico has raised the quota on fakes............. 1
gtejada Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 I guess we can expect a bunch of sites from Mexico popping up selling fakes now.
tjohn7 Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Can I just point out that in an article about Cuban Cigars the photo toping the article is a bunch of Cigars from the Dom Republic Classic.
tjohn7 Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Rob: Any idea if this will affect global prices and/or availability of smokes?
Dozerhead Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Those 2 million cigars will go well with the 10 million fakes already there.
1LegLance Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 My 16yr old son and I just spent 3 days on our moto's riding around Baja Norte and one of our stops included a "cigar shop" in San Felipe on the Sea of Cortez side. Not only were the wrappers of the sticks super wrinkled from the humidifier mist falling directly on the sticks but the fun we had looking at all the mistakes on the boxes and bands ending up getting us kicked out. Oh well even at a La Casa del Habano in Mexico the prices are nuts so I will stick with taking my own habanos when I travel.
madandana Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Of course their increasing imports...Rush is going back.
El Presidente Posted October 13, 2014 Author Posted October 13, 2014 Rob: Any idea if this will affect global prices and/or availability of smokes? I seriously doubt it. 1 million cigars is neither here nor there. 1
tjohn7 Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 I seriously doubt it. 1 million cigars is neither here nor there. Good to know. I did as thorough a search as possible of the Interweb to see Habanos' production numbers but couldn't find any reliable data.
polarbear Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 Good to know. I did as thorough a search as possible of the Interweb to see Habanos' production numbers but couldn't find any reliable data. Last number I heard someone throw around was 55 million per year That seems a little high, but I'm not in the know about these things
Lant63 Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 Does this mean a new rodolfo, or double corona Edmundo Dante may be on the horizon?
DrunkenMonkey Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 Of course their increasing imports...Rush is going back. Which one smokes cigars? Alex, Geddy, or Neil? 3
CUBANO Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 More interested in the increase of Rum import. Hopefully we get a better selection at Duty Free, and local stores.
Puros Y Vino Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 Which one smokes cigars? Alex, Geddy, or Neil? Don't know whether they're into cigars but they're certainly wine aficionados. If you've seen their recent documentary there's a scene where they are dining and opining on wines. My GF ran into Geddy at a fancy French restaurant last year. Said the table was full of wines for their party of four.
cns187 Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 just came back from Mexico, it's amazing how many shops are selling fakes right on 5th Ave in Playa Del Carmen
Habana Mike Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 Can I just point out that in an article about Cuban Cigars the photo toping the article is a bunch of Cigars from the Dom Republic Seriously. WTF!
