El Presidente Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 We have a a fair few members wishing to attend the Partagas Opening Night Dinner on Tuesday the 18th of November. I normally wouldn't go but would like to attend the opening night as a show of support for Hamlet. Many of the others wish to do the same. For those who have paid and been before, what is the process for booking? is there a website link? I can e-mail the Partagas manager but if there is an easier way, let me know. So who here will be going? Could be a cracker of a night if we get a good crew together
Guest rob Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 I'm in, Mate. I'm guessing attire is neat casual? Or is it dinner suit?
El Presidente Posted October 6, 2014 Author Posted October 6, 2014 Smart casual with jacket will do mate
Puros Y Vino Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 We bought our tickets last year at the Partagas store while down there. You can always ask Hamlet to reserve you some spots.

We can do so a the Registration on the Monday. I still haven't any details on the opening night however (cost etal). Will shoot Jose/hamlet an e-mail.
maverickdrinker Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Last year was in th cathedral square. An amazing evening. Tickets were around $125 CUC if I remember correctly. A very fun event. 1
madandana Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Does anyone have a link to what the night entails? Or maybe someone who has attended can give us a run down.
dublincigarsmoker Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Hi everyone, DublinCigarSmoker is me Rob Fox. I cant wait to catch up with you all in Havana. I intend to attend the Monday night opening event, although I haven't seen any details yet. I have always purchased tickets in the Partagas shop - but have never bought for a large group. Last year the event was a big open air affair with i estimate 20 / 30 tables of 10, with dinner served at the table. Judging from past events you really cant determine a consistent dress code. If this years event is anything like the previous ones I have attended there will be people in shorts / polos, in trousers / guayabera, and in suits / ties. Personally, I will be wearing a suit and tie but that's only because I need to at least try to convince my directors that I am actually at work, and usually its only photos from very early in the evening at the first event that are suitable and appropriate for circulation. Without any "work" consideration I would be wearing trousers / shirt. 1
Puros Y Vino Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Does anyone have a link to what the night entails? Or maybe someone who has attended can give us a run down. What I recall. Get into the venue, find yourself a table to sit at. Bottles of rum on the table. Two brands. Some announcements by the MC. Dinner. Cigars handed out. Contests, entertainment, smoking, rum drinking lots of fun. The opening dinner was in Cathedral Square which made for an excellent venue. Word is that it won' be allowed there again. The closing night was a funeral in comparison to the opener. We did get a bit more cigars that night(ticket cost more too) higher end rum too. IMO. Do the opener, skip the closer.
tmac77 Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 The opening dinner last year was, for me, the best event to attend. I even got up on stage for a dance and bongo drum off contest with a few others. Good times... . There is a video somewhere out there on that. As indicated above we reserved and bought our tickets via Hamlet.

I agree it was a great night and Team Canada was sting in the support for Tom's bingo skills. Looking forward to being there again this year. 1

CanuckSARTech Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 ...For those who have paid and been before, what is the process for booking? Process??? "Hammy - get me some tickets." Solved. So who here will be going? Could be a cracker of a night if we get a good crew together LOL. Is there any other kind in La Habana???
CanuckSARTech Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 And FYI, as of two days ago, current thought is that it will be in the cathedral square again, and that it will be $80-$90 CUC's.
Rushman Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Wasn't planning on it and will give my greetings to hamlet during the week Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
joncat Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 I expect to be there. Will there be a sizeable Canadian contingent?
El Presidente Posted October 21, 2014 Author Posted October 21, 2014 Spoke to Hammy yesterday. He will arrange for us to have tables arranged for the opening dinner. That is 28 people in my group for the dinner + the Canadian contingent so 40 ish in all. If you are registering solo, should you wish to join our tables, say that you are in the Rob Ayala/FOH group. With 40 + of us together...it should be a great night! Our group will swing by monday morning to Partagas to finalise. After that we will have a quick visit to LCDH 5ta y 16 / 5ta Avenida snd then back to my place for the FOH party 1
AlohaStyle Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Does anyone know a shop owner from I believe, the Cayman Islands, that always goes to the Partagas Festival? I met him 2 years ago and thought he was a nice guy but I lost a lot of my notes and for the life of me can't remember his name or his shop.
IPORTER Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Very Jealous ladies and gents, very jealous!!
