Got this box back in 2012 from our host.

Haven't had that many since They are a very mild smoke therefore not exactly my taste.

Construction is flawless, heavy and balanced with a sheen to the brown wrapper, no water spots or soft spots.

Cold draw is leather and ceder, smell of the wrapper is quite floral, it is hard to explain exactly what floral means but think of smelling a leather chair that had a bunch of uncut daisies on it...

First third:

Mild to medium body not to much spice, maybe a touch on the lips, dark bread and grass, hints of sugar

The reason I am not a lover of this cigar is the grass flavor, it is like smoking a cigar while mowing the law, on the PC it is much less noticeable, it was much stronger in past experience so maybe there is hope still.

Second third:

OK, change of pace, grass taste is almost gone, bread and cocoa are on, a touch sugary but not sweet, this is a much better flavor profile for me, still a light cigar but not unpleasant.

Final third:

Still cocoa or milk chocolate, can't really decide, a bit of burnt sugar.

A very mild cigar but not unpleasant, I have to say, the first third reminded me of why I don't love the cigar while the second and last third told me why one should look to long storage.

Will revisit in 6 months hoping the flavor profile changes for the first third.

Rating is a pain for something like this - first third 86, second 90 and last 91, so let's say 89 and call it a day.

Cheers

You do the review of separate parts, eh? I've found it doesn't always work to average them out.

I never get sweets out of these old rock hard sticks. I've also never had a consistent one of these. Really glad you enjoyed it mate! I would give it a tad more time to rest than 6 months. Profiles like these shan't change too much in only half a year.

How old was this cigar?

Sorry! Age is already in the title. D'OH!!

I love these cigars but don't smoke the newer ones (just don't own any). Never really found RG's grassy, but it is not an uncommon phenomenon in CC's.

Nice review! -Piggy

keep in mind Ray (and i think this will be redundant for you to read) that grassy for someone could mean something completely different for you. like nutty or oolong tea :ok:

RG's do exhibit a note of grass or hay but in a good way. I taste this in CORO also. I feel the petit corona RG's tend to be more flavorful than the discontinued Corona extras and really enjoy them. Had many corona extras that were rolled so tight they were like dowel rods.

The OP wrote "The reason I am not a lover of this cigar is the grass flavor, it is like smoking a cigar while mowing the law", I believe it has the same meaning for everyone.

my mistake on that one. was going by Ray's words.

Life is a big game of broken telephone. And i'm just a mouse chewing through the cords! innocent.gif

Perhaps I shouldn't be mowing the lawn while reviewing cigars teacher.gif

No such thing. You keep things interesting.

Speaking of which, that action doesn't necessarily align with your username
