Popular Post Perla Posted September 17, 2014 Popular Post Posted September 17, 2014 Hmm the PL Picadores is a Hermosos #4, smaller than a Robusto. So I am out of the competition, sniff sniff. So I bought this brand new cigar on Monday. Price wise a real bargain (okay in my country). May be Habanos made the price calculation wrong like they did on the RJ Wide Churchill. It's my first Picadores so it is only a short impression tasting. That's how it look like: I like to punch my cigars, so here we go. Cold draw is very nice - dark honey, a bit of caramel. Draw as I like it, not to firm, not to loose. Cigar is not under filled, so far everything as it should be. Okay baby light my fire First puffs and big clouds of smoke are on board. So far so good. Slightly bitterness is present, some herbal notes. Taste of burned creme brûlée. Strength medium and very mellow (surprisingly for a young cigar). The ash fell of - very sandy grayish ash. Taste is leather and strong black tea, very creamy. No ammonia so far, this is a really nice & enjoyable cigar. This stick is really ready to smoke. Now the 1. Million $ question has the Picadores the nature of a PL? From my point of view and keeping in mind it is the first cigar I smoke, the answer is crisp and clear a simple yes! It has what I love in a Montecarlos & Panetellas, also you can find in a PLPC. No wonky burn. Strength is still medium. In the last third there is ammonia and green taste, still okay for a fresh cigar. Ladies and Gentlemen this is good ride. Would I be a broker I would recommend: strong buy. It only make me very thirsty. Hmm I should crab something nicely out of the fridge. Now it is dark and too cold, I better go and sit in front of the chemin. 7
... Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Yep, I have to buy some now. Thanks for the review!
CUBANO Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Thanks for the review. Thinking of getting a box.
Optic101 Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Thanks for the review, box is on mental pre order.
cigarbreak Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Nice! I picked up a stick at an LCDH over the weekend and was told they're not quite ready yet, but I will wait until there is some nice weather to decide for myself For now off to bed it goes lol. Thanks for the review!
Habana Mike Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Hmm the PL Picadores is a Hermosos #4, smaller than a Robusto. So I am out of the competition, sniff sniff. Oh, I think you're OK. Rob left a little wiggle room: Please ensure they are Half Corona/ Petit Corona, Corona Gorda or Robusto formats (or thereabouts) only. I am not picky but they need to be close. I figured a Tres Petite was close enough for one......hope so or I'll just have to do another. Thanks for the review
CUBANO Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Great review. Can't wait to try one. I see a box split coming, w Yatbob.
CanuckSARTech Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 Ute, I didn't see this review of yours until now - thanks for the head's up, my dear! Very nice review. Love the Gummy Bears in the background! LOL. At least a box of these are already slotted into my list for Havana in November, so fingers crossed they turn out as you describe them. Very happy to hear that they have that carmelized sugar / caramel / creamy / creme brulee essence to them - love that in aged PLPC's, along with a leather / black tea hit. Great review. Thanks for sharing!
tjhernandez34 Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 Nice review! I picked one of these up a few days ago, can't wait to give it a go.
canucks6024 Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 Pick up a couple last week along with the Hoyo San Juan. Looking forward to it. They smell very barnyard-y.
ramon_cojones Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 I'll smoke one if given to me but no interest in these as pl don't drain my well anyway thx for the review.
PartagasIV Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 My first from my box, admittedly very wet and only settled about a week, was not great. Hoping for improvement as they sit for a while.
Lotusguy Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 Had one so far. Generous gift from a German BOTL. Nothing to write home about. Pretty harsh all the way through. I did not detect any sweetness. Not PL profile to me. Got two more from a different box - let's see. One of those better wow me or they're off the purchase list. 1
Rye Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 I smoked one yesterday and really enjoyed it. Strong Marca profile flavours and if consistent they will definitely be in my regular rotation. Great review!

You will have to bring your own gummy bears in Nov. Keith as they will be HTF in Cuba. 1
Trimming Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Looking forward to these, don't care for the band design though.
Lant63 Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 I smoked one yesterday and really enjoyed it. Strong Marca profile flavours and if consistent they will definitely be in my regular rotation. Great review! Happy to hear that they are true to the Marca. I am hoping that these turn out to be similar to what the Connie A is to H upmann.
Optic101 Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 More like the Connie 1. Delicious! Sounds great.
cottierm Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Thanks for the review. It sounds as if I will have to track some down! Best, Michel
jvel79 Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Thank you for the nice review! Looking forward to finding these and enjoying one.
