Doug535i Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Recently HAD to quit smoking cigarettes after 34yrs, per Dr's request ( unsatisfactory lung function). On his suggestion I used the patch and tried the lozenges to get me through, the lozenges are the most foul thing I have ever put in my mouth and only managed to get through 1/2 of the first one before spitting it out. I also had purchased an BLU e-cig which came in pretty handy for the first few days, these things say they are approx 1 pack per cartridge, ha, lucky to get equivalent of 5-6 cigs per cartridge and inconsistent draw at that. Then comes the cost of the 5 pack of cartridges $17USD (for the equivalent of 25 cigs) is astronomical to me. I was a 1 pack a day smoker @ less than $5USD a pack. Had tried my Brother-in-laws vapie thingy before and I hacked and coughed for 5 minutes straight with a very tiny inhale. Seriously thought my lungs were coming apart during the cough attack and figured Vaping was not gonna be for me. Well as it turns out I picked up a starter Vape kit and eased myself into it and I find its really not too bad, definitely not a ciggy, but satisfying enough that I do not crave an actual cig. A couple puffs off the Vape and I'm good to go. Are there any of you that quit cigs with one of these and what, in your experience was the best cig flavor that you found. Are there any of you out there that Vape, just to Vape. I have noticed that my cigars now have more punch to them in the flavor department, a little sharper not as muted as they were before quitting the cigs. I also am an avid coffee drinker and have noticed my coffee now tastes different, not necessarily in a good way, almost tastes stale with fresh ground oily beans.
Laynard Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 I quit cigs a bit ago, and like you started with BLU. Moved to an Ego vape pen and love it. Keeps the nicotine levels up so I don't go on a rampage. I love being able to breathe, taste and smell again.

Pedro2486 Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 This sounds like a commercial. Too much like a commercial, in fact. What makes you say that? Not disputing your opinion, just curious to your reasoning. I guess maybe the name brand thing but from what I've researched into ecigs no blatantly false info has been given. I'm interested in them too as a cigarette alternative
cigarbreak Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Glad to hear you've moved on to a likely better alternative and i hope you never have to go back to cigarettes. Despite the fact ive been hearing on the news that there are no long term studies on the negative aspects to vaping, and that there still may be some associated health risks to inhaling vaporized mist with additives unbeknownst to the consumer, i think your on a good start. I quit smoking in 2011 cold turkey and after some months, i regained my taste, and wow, like you i was beginning to taste everthing more clearly. I wish you all the best in your road to success. If it helps at all, some of my quitting strategies involved consciously replacing hand to mouth movement with eating hard candy like mentos (which can get out of hand lol cause i was eating like 8 a day lol) and drinking bottled water constantly. And also snacking frequently as well. It comes with a bit of weight gain but its a trade iff thats well worth it.
Doug535i Posted August 2, 2014 Author Posted August 2, 2014 This sounds like a commercial. Too much like a commercial, in fact. No commercial here Erik, had been pondering quitting the cigs for a couple years as my wife had quit 10 years ago. Bless her heart she never nagged at me to quit. This was just a way for me to vent about my current state of health (self induced) and see if there was any common ground on the board on vaping.

No mention of vape brand or where purchased was made.
LeafLover Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 I got a lung infection after smoking a vape for a week. I quit that right away. Still smoke only about 5 cigarettes a week. I k ow itanot much but its that one cigarette a day habit I can't break.
Doug535i Posted August 2, 2014 Author Posted August 2, 2014 Vapes are for dabs Only while I'm dubbin, Buddy, only while I'm dubbin.
Grahamsant Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 I used a vape for a while but as I was using it in the same habitual fashion found it was too easy to fall back to smoking actually cigarettes. I recently went 6 weeks cold turkey and was doing fine until I decided to have a "social" cigarette and fell back into old form. I have around 5 a day so not a huge amount but still too much. Need to give up again!! I did it previously in a "diet" fashion...hold off having cigarettes during the week and rewarding myself with a nice cigar at the end of the week!!!
