NJP Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 What a slag. How would a male go as a politician if he said the puppies need to be perky and must have good structural integrity in the.....
HarveyBoulevard Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 I love it!! People get so offended over everything these days. I wish everyone had a sense of humor like this, or at least to SOME degree. Life would be a lot more pleasant and a lot more would get accomplished if we (including our politicians) all took ourselves just a little less serious. 1

Life would be a lot more pleasant and a lot more would get accomplished if we (including our politicians) all took ourselves just a little less serious. sadly, this really isn't funny if you live in the country where, thank to the absurd system of electing our senate ("keating got it right - unrepresentative swill"), this idiot is one of a handful of utter morons who hold the balance of power and insist on holding the country to ransom for their idiotic ideas and self interest. this is someone who is yet to utter a single sensible thought, worked with the labor party and failed, worked with the liberal party and failed, tried to go as an independent and failed, has gone through endless periods of alcohol and drug abuse, had her claim for compensation from the military cancelled after an investigator's report, has done nothing but publicly abuse our leaders (possibly deserved but if you have nothing to offer in return, not really helpful). she has publicly declared we should dump foreign aid programs, made it clear that she'll use parliamentary privilege at her whim and bugger the consequences. attacked the PM via his family. she has declared she should be PM (lord save us) and that she is australia's margaret thatcher - anyone less like thatcher is unimaginable. can you imagine thatcher declaring she'dd like someone 'well hung'? as well as this latest embarrassing outburst, she has declared publicly that her own son is well hung. all class. now has joined with the worst and most dangerous self-interested lunatic australian politics has had to endure (and that is a long line). got in to this position of power with 6% of the vote. thanks to our ridiculous preferential system. this little band includes this idiot, a self-interested billionaire, a bloke from victoria who got in with 0.5% of the vote!! and who could not even explain (or understand) our parliamentary system), a chinese engineer who works for the billionaire and who happily declared he had "absolutely zero interest in politics" and a former footballer who, as a politician, was a great footballer. she might appear amusing for outsiders but if she and her fellow band of braindead imbeciles were abusing the system in your country, it may not seem so funny. 4

Wow, sounds like some people we have running things over in my homeland...I guess no matter where you live there is a commonality between politicians.

Touche Senor Gargett. Point taken. My observation was poorly worded but the intent was sound. Without knowing this 'politician' (term used loosely), it is poor form to use her as my shining example of a politician. I agree that if what is stated above accurately reflects her credentials and track record of her political history, I would be none too pleased if she were my rep either. The point attempted was politicians tendency to take themselves a bit too serious, not the job mind you, but the person. She has a good sense of humor, but if she is an imbecile, not so funny. Since I live in an unnamed country and said unnamed country's political discussions are forbidden, I will not go into further detail but I get your point. Smart politician who cares, gets things done and has a sense of humor = great Dumb politician who is too stupid to care, and gets nothing done BUT has a sense of humor = not so great. I am guessing this lass is the latter.
El Presidente Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 I have to say i was a little stunned when I heard it. having no love for politicians of any ilk, I welcome a fresh approach. Yet I cringe at the sheer crassness of the Senator from Tasmania. Crikey, we tell our Sporting stars that they need to be role models If I take my "glass half full" approach then I bat it away as learning process for a new Senator, she will get better, learn the ropes etal. "glass half empty approach" and we have got as representatives exactly what we deserve. Compulsory voting here in Oz and she certainly represents a proportion of our community. 1

Yes, she represents a proportion of our community... the ones that shouldn't breed. I'm just glad I don't have kids. At least they won't have to suffer from the raping this government and the previous ones have done to this great country. 1
Ken Gargett Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 understand from the outside why it seems amusing. i probably would too, if it wasn't so sad and had such an impact on australians. i'm sure many of us had a smirk at the antics of rob ford. but i've no doubt he would seem far less amusing if he had power which affected me. and so many more examples around the globe (lucky everyone)! as for rob's comments, i hate compulsory voting but i don't see it as the main problem. the problem is this ridiculous system where someone with 0.5% of the vote in a single state (specifically in this case, an individual who has declared publicly that it was unfair for an interviewer to ask him what is meant by the separation of powers - because he had no idea) manages to get elected to the senate and then becomes part of a tiny band of dills and self-interested idiots which holds the balance of power for any decision made by parliament. insane. and as for the concept of glass half full and she will get better - not a snowball's. she will get worse. the more she discovers the power she has, the more she'll abuse it. ditto the billionaire blimp. 1

Do you know any normal person who would be genuinely interested in being a prime minister, president, senator or the like, understanding the implications (including the fundraisers, self-image projection and creative truthin')? Herbert used to say (paraphrasing) that positions of power tend to attract people having a corruptible nature as an answer to people claiming power had a corrupting effect...
bradbrennan Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 understand from the outside why it seems amusing. i probably would too, if it wasn't so sad We have a few men and women that are absolutely embarrassing, and they aren't even talking about "well hung" partners! 1
dowjr1 Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Not sure why it is so hard to find normal people to serve in office. Of course, maybe part is bc normal people have great difficulty, in my country, to get elected into a public office of significance. You have to have LOTS of money and be ready for your opponent and his/her party to slime and attack you personally. Who wants that?

... Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Normal like Lindsay Graham? From upstate SC US politics and people involved are satyrists and comedians' wet dream. Some much precious footage and sound bites out there...Sad stuff when you realize these are the people making meaningful decisions though

Guest rob Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 About 3 weeks ago, me and my missus went out for dinner and had the ill-fortune to have to sit at the table next to her, and the other 3 morons from the PUP (Palmer himself, Lazarus and the other guy) They were seriously strange, and at times embarrassingly stupid. They spoke loudly, openly and freely and had no care who was listening. After their dinner, Palmer looked like he was about to lean back in his chair and undo his belt and top button of his pants. I pray for us all.
Philski Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 Herbert used to say (paraphrasing) that positions of power tend to attract people having a corruptible nature as an answer to people claiming power had a corrupting effect... An Abraham Lincoln quote flashed across me recently, can't remember where: "Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power." First feelings watching that clip were that she was just voicing the sort of things we're not allowed to air in public anymore (and that's a good thing - the second bit, I mean). The back story gives whole different flavour - how on earth was she allowed to enter politics? Has Australia now become the world's most right-on nation?
Warren Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 Personally I believe that most of these morons should have a shallow grave out in the bush somewhere. It wouldn't work for Clive though, you would need at least a bob cat and three guys to put him under. This country needs a serious overhaul of the electoral system. We are headed to third world conditions unless we get serious and tackle debt, manufacturing, and the ridiculous wages we pay entry level employees. 1
