groundhog Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Am torn between these two - have had the RG, and it was lovely - a nice short easy smoke. Haven't had the favoritos, but have read good things about them.... So - thoughts? Which would you pick and why?
shlomo Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Perlas for sure. Nota fan of the Favorito. I find them somewhat harsh and boring. At least the RG is interesting. Still, neither is a favorite. Would much prefer spending a touch more and picking up any number of other minuto/pc/small stick. 1

As for alternatives - again I'll be the first to admit it's from limited experience but my choice would be Boli PC. Pricewise you're talking approximately 1.5x the price of the RG box but you're getting approximately 1.5x the tobacco!

If you want a great stick at more expensive per cigar, but cheaper for the box, look into the RA Superiores. Boxes of 10, but readily found under 100. Like I said though, if you are really sticking to those two, I would pick the Perlas. 1

cigarbreak Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Tried both and Perlas for sure...although for the price point and for the sake of not smoking anymore of my more expensive cigars I am ready to pull the trigger on some Favoritos my self! or maybe the Brevas...either way the like most have said already the Perlas is more interesting.
groundhog Posted July 26, 2014 Author Posted July 26, 2014 I ended up not going with a box - I got a fiver of Perlas and 4 favoritos to try out.... Had the first favorito yesteday. I wasn't expecting much at all and was quite pleasantly surprised! Will decide on a box when I get to three each, I think (unless one screams ahead!). 1

But I would like to interest you in the minuto selections, rascc, party shorts, and el principe. Esp the el principe, which imho is the best minuto there is but doesn't get talked abt as much as the shorts and rascc. And all three of these are only a hair more expensive than the perla, but gives you a longer smoke time. 1

finecigar Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 I've really enjoyed the Favoritos and have found that boxes from 2012 have only improved on flavor and burn. Fresh are great too. They are a no brainer to have a box around for yard work, commutes, dog walk, etc. I've enjoyed the half dozen perlas I've sampled too. They are both a relatively inexpensive decent quality smoke that you won't be too ashamed to buy.
