Diamondog Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Unfortunately there really are no options other than private residence in Ottawa for a HERF. The cigar lounge would be nice but they won't reserve the room under any circumstances. I did however host a party last December at the Hilton at the casino in the Presidential suite which is a smoking suite. I had comfortably 40 people in the suite (with room for more) with 30 people smoking at any given time and ran until 4am, the ventilation in the suite is 2nd to none. The suite has a full dining room, entertainment (living room) area, full bar etc....It is on the 20th floor (top) with a magnificent view including balcony. The hotel is attached to the Lac Leamy Casino Gatineau (10 min from Ottawa downtown), the Bacchus cigar lounge is also on the main floor of the Hilton. There are a multitude of restaurant options and hotel accommodations with the Hilton being one of them. Looking to see if there is any interest in putting something together. Initial thoughts would be getting suite catered for finger foods snack foods etc and BYOB, of course a pre-dinner could be organized as well. Gauging interest from in town and out of town guests. Cost determined on participants to cover suite/food. We could do something relatively soon if there is enough interest and potentially do something annually between Montreal/Toronto HERFS.
Squarehead Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Sounds interesting haven't been in Ottawa in ages.
Maplepie Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Wouldn't mind heading down for a day to Ottawa from Toronto! anyone want to Megabus down with me? Sent from my BlackBerry Q10 using Tapatalk for Android.
Cisco Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 I'm interested. Thanks for proposing this! I hope we can drum up enough interest...that Presidential suite sounds like the perfect place for a HERF. I can relay a link to your message on to other boards if you wish. Let me know. Cheers.
Armaniac Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Depending on the date, I would probably come down from Montreal with a couple of friends.
Phillys Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 I am in! I live a few minutes away, and that suite is PERFECT for a Herf! depending on dates of course.
fokker4me Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 I'm possibly interested depending on the date. Gives me an excuse for a ride from Philly.
Strada Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Depending on the dates I would absolutely be down for that and I am sure a few of the Montreal guys would come down. Again all depending on dates! Good job and keep us posted Steve!
EuroTrash Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Already talked tonight but thought I'd throw my post in for the count. Should be good most any date as long as it isn't a long weekend.
Diamondog Posted May 28, 2014 Author Posted May 28, 2014 Starting to look at calendar and Saturday June 21 is the date that seems likely. There are a couple things to sort out first before solidifying that date, trying to get that done ASAP. This first one if we can do it would be very unorganized and just to have a get together but I would like to have an annual event placed between Montreal and Toronto in the warm weather. If we are able to do something annually I think end of May beginning of June would be the best time.
IcedCanuck Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Bummer, I'll be in Cuba. Let me know how it turns out.
Diamondog Posted June 7, 2014 Author Posted June 7, 2014 Yes, sorry for the delay....the venue has actually changed policy and there is no more smoking in the suite, par for the course in this area...
Cisco Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Damn! Too good to be true I guess...ay least we still have the lounge...for now...
Maplepie Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Oi Diamond! would you be opposed to travelling a small distance to MTL for a meet Friday? refer to *****CA discussions
