Lant63 Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 To get the full story one will have to watch the first two video reviews and the first half of the third. Essentially what is said, is that the original Cohiba blend was not "Triple Barrel Fermented" and this blend was sold to Davidoff. Cohiba then needed to be tweaked in order to be different, and this was when TBF was added. Trinidad then became the Diplomatic gift cigar which was the original Cohiba blend(same as Davidoff), which is also the one Castro was so fond of. Side note, the two bands Davidoff and the ones used on Diplomatic gifts are strikingly similar. This was done to show that Castro was not backing Davidoff, but really smoking his own special cigar. When Davidoff stopped being produced, Trinidad was added a couple of years later. I am leaving a lot out so it is best to watch the videos. So is this guy nuts, or is there some truth in this? Has someone smoked Davidoffs and Trinidads and have an opinion as well? 1
Lant63 Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 Smallclub start anywhere brother. Did you watch the video? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Blakes Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 I made it to 6:56 on the first video. Did I win??? Haha I can never get through more than a few minutes of this guy's video's either... Going to try and give this one a shot so I can partake in this thread!
mk05 Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 I don't blame him for his curiosity. All he wants is information and to augment his knowledge. I applaud his efforts, albeit not the outcome. Also seems like he took del Tedesco a little too literally and didn't fully appreciate his meaning.
laficion Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Dear everyone, This Joe makes a lot of sense and I am close to believeing him . Except for the 1992 side of things that concerns the Siglo line.In1993 there was a big night for the launching In Europe of the Siglo line at the Hotel Clarrige's on the 11th of November In London, U. K. and there was the Siglo's1,2,3.but also the 4, and the 5's too. And I should know, I was there at that night. !!!!!! Guy
Briand Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 You gotta give the guy a e for effort but it's just so hard to sit thru. Besides I am sure the myth of Cohiba is way cooler than what really happened.
vinnyvega Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 It's very unfortunate when a person says something of importance but they're a ****** or comes off like one. You see it a lot on the boards or in this case, a video.

Guy I agree with this, I think he started to reach and connect things that really really weren't there at that point But I am very curious at the first couple points about the blends he made. I for one am only 19 and have not had the pleasure to smoke a Davidoff (yet), so I cannot really say whether any of this has any truth. I have not smoked that much of Trinidad (only a couple Reyes albeit very good), with that said I do find a similar sweetness (Hay, Honey, Creme Brulee) in the two blends.
