Popular Post Reevzy Posted April 29, 2014 Popular Post Posted April 29, 2014 A friend of mine posted a video on facebook the other day and apparently this trick has been kicking around for a few years now, it's the song Jolene by Dolly Parton slowed down and played at 33 RPM on the record player. For starters, it makes it sound like a man is singing it but it gives the song a whole new feel to it and to be honest, I really like it, I never really knew the song before but it's also given me an appreciation for Dolly's lyrical skills. So anyway, the video I was shown was someone doing it on their actual record player and recording it with a video camera, so the sound wasn't the best quality, so I re did it myself in my recording software and transposed it to the same speed and tempo as the record player at 33 RPM. No Dolly, I didn't steal your music to do this, I borrowed my Dads CD, he's a huge fan! Just for comparisons sake and if your not familiar with the song, just look it up on the tube. 9
NJP Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 That was/is very cool. I think it's Daryl Parton her brother.
Guest rob Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Great stuff, mate. I'm glad you shared it, and am interested to see other stuff you put together!
Duxnutz Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Awesome! At first I thought there would be some crazy hidden message, but really enjoyed it.
Blippio Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Nice! Kinda gives the song a whole new meaning, lol
MrGTO Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Living in East TN, we love Dolly! My kids get a book every month from a foundation she put together. You sign them up when you do your paperwork when they are born. She is a special individual. Reading to your kids is one of the best thing you can do for them besides feeding them, lol! 1
Laynard Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 This is awesome. It has a hint of Irish folk to it this way. Thanks for sharing!
Knilas Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Hey..that was really cool! And amazingly clear and crisp. I really enjoyed it slowed down like that. I hope you'll continue to bring us more.
rickmccarey Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Sounds better, love it slowed down. The White Stripes covered Jolene as well , really like that version to. 1
leftimatic Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Ha! What a great take to a great song. Hearing a "man" singing it changes the context just a little.
