LeafLover Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 I havent tried the other two vitolas because it had me at hello.
earthson Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Fuente Anejo with ~3 years on em Fuente Don Carlos with < 1 year on em Fernando Leon & Guillermo Leon coronas Tat brown Noellas, Tainos, petites, and Unicos (the only torpedo I like) The occasional Cruzado by Illusione
spicycorona Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Regular NC rotation smokes: Tatuaje 7th Reserva(Pretty much love any Tat, though) Quesada Espana Fuente 858 Maduro Padron 1926 No. 6 Oliva Master Blends 3 Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk I miss those Oliva MB3. I hope they haven't changed, haven't had or seen one in probably 5 years. I was reminded of the amazingness of the Opus X over the weekend. Same with a Padron Anni 1964 which pleasantly surprised me with a decent draw. If only every cigar shop carried those. I see more shops carrying Flor De Las Antilles and My Father Le Bijou, which are both good in a pinch.
Heawns Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 I lit up a Oliva serie v, no.4. One of few (so far) non-cubans I've smoked. Very good, once again. I wonder if it's a significantly different blend from the Lanceros, or that they don't sell as well (i.e. aged). Smooth, creamy, slightly sweet. Maybe some leather, woods, and nutty tones. Certainly some musty dark berry flavours, and lots of spice. The lanceros have been way stronger and mustier IMO. My favourite so far from the Oliva house. Next I will see if any of the Padrons will entice me. (I have smoked Cubans relatively often for some 7 years, FYI)
SaintLuis Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Padron anniversarios ('64 more often than the '26). Cabaiguan Fuente Fuente Opus X (love the perfection 5) My Father Flor de Las Antilles Generally, cubans are better, but while this is a habanos forum, i think its close minded and stupid to denigrate talk about non-cubans. We're all brothers of the leaf, and that doesnt strike me as an attitude consistent with what this hobby is all about.
SaintLuis Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 I've been smoking NC's for pretty much the last 15 years. Can't believe I never heard of this cigar until it was posted on another forum. This cigar is simply amazing. I've just ordered 3 boxes to keep. It has almost the same taste as a CC. Unbelievable. I really love this cigar. My 2nd one of the day. Interesting nod to habanos with the re band.
SaintLuis Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 At that price, Anejo is an exceptional value, I know the 55 will smoke at least two hours! I have 4 sharks in my humidor, and im actually intimidated by them. lol
Stogieninja Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 There are a fair number of NCs I enjoy: Padron Anny Maduro Tatuaje 7th Reserva Fuente Hemingway Maduro My Father Quesada Espana Short Robusto Liga Privada Dirty Rat or L40 Tatuaje Regios Reserva Oliva V lancero, no4, and the rate diadema El Triunfador lancero (brown label) On the subject brought up of CC vs NC, I do find it fascinating that many, many BotLs (myself included) start with NC and eventually transition either to all-CC, or mostly-CC smoking, whereas you almost never see someone start with CCs and transition to all- or mostly-NC smoking...
anjimj Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 I enjoy smoking Padron Maduro's. Sometimes, I enjoy a beefy Nicaraguan Puro and its a nice change of pace cigar. Others include, Tatuaje Black label, Tatuaje TAA 2012, and Don Pepin Lanceros from 2008 which I have a half a box
jrb5783 Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 New absolute go to HdM Petite Robusto great smoke never let's me now Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
nikesupremedunk Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Even a "cheap" NC here in NY costs more than a cheap CC. I usually buy the cheap padrons that are around ~$6 and just smoke my CC. I stash the NC's that I'm forced to buy and just give them out to friends that don't know anything about cigars.
Laxman Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Punch Punch 2013 BAM codes as of late have been off the charts. My new go to cigar hands down, also the BTO Sig 6's have been great and finding them hard to stay away from. 1
Heawns Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 The dominican La Gloria Cubana (glorias) is a new one for me... Beats the expensive Padron in my hand. I simply prefer creamy sweetness and various spices, over dry & murky grapefruit flavours. In the LGC, which I smoked yesterday, I found some bready spice of anise, cardamom, syrup, and some hints of white pepper. Very creamy and sweet at times.
Homebrew Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 I probably smoke about 90% Cuban cigars. But sometimes the mood strikes me, and I reach for a Non-Cuban cigar. Mainly from these boxes. I also occasionally grab a Padron, or Tat, but mainly Fuentes. Dave (A.K.A. Homebrew)
Smallclub Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 But sometimes the mood strikes me, and I reach for a Non-Cuban cigar. I also occasionally grab a Padron, or Tat, but mainly Fuentes. Is "sometimes" or "occasionally" compatible with "go-to" ? I'm confused.
Optic101 Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Well if you equal the 10% NC to 100% and these are the main once .....
vinnyvega Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 I truly feel bad for the only Cuban cigar smoker that has never experienced an Ashton VSG from 1999. I am down to a hand full of the Robos and they are better than 95% of any aged Cubans I have enjoyed.
vinnyvega Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 As far as what you can get at any B&M, Fuente Hemingway and Don Carlos.
laficion Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 I say, smoke what you love, and love what you smoke, but I'd prefer to smoke a Peso cigar then a high end N.C. . Why ? I like Pepper In my dishs but not In my CIGARS !!!!!!!!!. I also like Dutch cigars for the change of pace. !!!!!!:!!!!!! Guy
bradbrennan Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 I have 4 sharks in my humidor, and im actually intimidated by them. lol I've been smoking most of my Anejo and Opus with sweetened coffee vs. alcohol lately, much safer And lately I've been drawn to cc's first I must admit, but still crave the Anejo and Opus line often. And yes they are available in some U.S. stores, so I would say they are my go-to-cigar as related to this thread title
Andrew11 Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Something went wrong and could not edit my last post. My go to at the moment is the Leccia White Robusto. What a great stick,
