CaptainQuintero
Not even a joke thread! I've had a crazy week, every emotion known to exist at all their extremes combined with buckets of stress, so right on cue mouth ulcers on the inside of my lip which grate against my teeth constantly :| Usually I bite them through then styptic pencil the buggers but I got to thinking with a world-wide membership, there must be some tried and trusted methods that doesn't involve man-tears and knee-knocking pain dances Whiskey/brandy/salt water/dispersable aspirin have never worked for me yet
Rushman
tough luck bro, those suck.......I have found no cure other than time. Best of luck
Guest Robo
Use cold mint tea as a mouth wash. It's not a miracle cure but will help. Rob
Rye
Tea tree oil Nasty as hell, and be sure not to swallow, but it works. For a milder method, gargling with diluted peroxide. That method takes longer
shlomo
Stay away from dairy. Should stop any further growth.
LSUTiger
Try a chewable antacid. Chew it and swirl it around the ulcer for a few seconds. The pain will be gone in a day. It works for me.
cigcars
Colgate has an over-the-counter mouth rinse out called Peroxyl, mouth sore rinse. It's got safe amounts of peroxide in it and we use it for everything from budding sore throats to gum problems. Hopefully, you can find some where you are, or even order it online maybe? It's a Godsend for mouth sore problems, and you can get it in Spearmint or Peppermint flavor.
ajgw
I wish I had a cure for those bad boys. The best I can offer is over-the-counter Bonjela. The stuff numbs them almost entirely, and then it's a matter of time. bigal
El Presidente
I find the best product by far is Refine ginger Powder by BioHawk (Professor Hawkins). It is actually made locally and not specifically for mouth ulcers. in effect a concentrated proprietary Ginger Powder. I swish and gargle and swallow a 1/2 teaspoon of this powder mixed in a little water (so it is a thick liquid) morning and night and I rarely have a mouth ulcer. When I do however I mix it as a paste and apply directly. The ulcers are gone within 36 hours. Just my experience. http://www.biohawk.com.au/wellness-relief.html
Pilsner14
Usually caused by virus.....due to stress. Can buy overthecounter antiviral gel......which helps. Tough to diagnose without seeing. JD
nikonNUT
The wound care my dentist suggested after an extraction (with a sinus communication) was equal parts Listerine, hydrogen peroxide, and warm water. Definitely works well. I run the hottest water I can get and add it first. The other two liquids will cool it down and you get a nice warm rinse. Homebrew
I used to get them bad. My Doctor prescribed a ointment called, Kenelogg in Orabase. They would quit hurting in 12 hours, and disappear in 36 hours. I still have about a hlf a tube left, but I rarely get them any more. Dave (A.K.A. CaptainQuintero
Thanks all!! Going to check out the ginger and tea tree oil ideas, I've used both before for all kinds of things and like the natural route, completely forgot about them with these for some reason. I'm glad I only get these a couple of times a year, it takes a lot to get me stressed so I'm quite lucky I know my dad (when I asked him what he was doing smoking on holidays, usually a king Edward) always replied that it was because he had an ulcer and it got rid of them good excuse dad, fooled a 7 year old right up to 15! CaptainQuintero
I just remembered a disturbing fact, if you don't out the toilet seat down before flushing, atomised fecal matter can travel up to 15 feet, so always make sure your toothbrush is in a cupboard or covered etc. I guess don't leave uncovered food around in the bathroom too? Cohiba Stevie
I use ordinary table salt, pour some out then add just a few drops of water until it can be mixed to a crude paste. Get a dab on your finger making sure your mouth is relatively dry, and hold it there for 5 mins, it will sting like hell for the first 3 but it will kill the ulcer instantly. That method is used by fishermen, ulcers are caused by stress and lack of sleep which are part and parcel of a fishermans job, my grandfather was a commercial fisherman and he taught me the above mehtod. I then follow up with this: http://www.iglugel.co.uk/treatingmouthulcers.aspx

Brickhouse
I have these more often than I do not it seems. So I have tried just about everything anyone has ever dreamed up. I would say on average I spend 15-20 days per month with some form of canker sore...on my gums, tongue, cheek, inside lip, tonsils....whatever. I've had them on every part of my mouth. My doctors have said it has to do with my acid reflux. So I am constantly on Prevacid and the likes. However, getting to your question. If I can reach the sore....hands down, the only thing I've ever found to be of any use is Zilactin-B. http://www.walgreens.com/store/c/zilactin-b-mouth-sore-gel/ID=prod6084417-product You dry the area out with a towel or napkin, then dab it on. It stings like a son of a *****, but the sting fades quickly. You then let it dry for about 3 minutes. It forms a protective layer over it and treats it while it's protected. I can eat, drink, and smoke and it doesn't come off. After about 6 hrs I have to put another on. It's all a pain in the ass, no doubt, but it works until the sore fades. Habanos2000
Stress would bring them out in me too. My doctor recommended either taking over the counter canker sore gels that would get rid of them in 7 days or I could just wait it out and they'd be gone in a week by themselves.
