Jeremy Festa Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Of which you are one. That's enough of the name calling! Let's keep it civil shall we?
Ken Gargett Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Tell him to be unruly and go commit crimes, Jerry Jones will want him! tell his agent to triple his price. synder will snap him up. and i fully agree re your response to the 'idiot' comment. i suspect my thoughts on the bible and other legends/stories/whatever/however one wants to describe them, associated with religion are well known but i hope i have not belittled anyone else's views (hell, i tried to be so respectful, i had to go outside to see if i had white smoke pouring out the roof). but yes, bottom line is that the chances of any of us changing anyone else's opinions are slim indeed (which doesn't mean i'm not happy to have a crack).
Ken Gargett Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 That's enough of the name calling! Let's keep it civil shall we? being called a mod is probably not the worst insult i've copped (this week) but i do try and keep it quiet. i might add that i can't remember when i found out i was a mod (or when i was outed as one). i woke up one morning and realised that, without making any conscious decision, i was a mod. i've tried to go back but it is, apparently, beyond my control. i just wanted to be normal but rob assures me it is not a disease. 2
pwhite Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Fair enough, wasn't trying to have any kind of issue with you skyfall. It was pwhites posts really, hard to quote on phone tho. His posts on page 1 don't give the impression of their being room for debate on the meaning of the bible... So the clothing and shellfish points were where I take issue with that kind of point of view. Actually Zigatoh, I never said that there was "no room for debate" in the meaning of the Bible. There are some areas of the Bible that are grey. However, some are black and white. The issue of sex outside of marriage, whether hetero or homosexual, according to God's word is sin. Believe me, I know about sin probably being the biggest one one this thread. I love this topic and discussing it, however, I am not sure that it is appropriate for FOH. If it is, then I think we should start a thread and have an intelligent discussion regarding religion. I appreciate all you guys and have learned much from this site, FOH is a class organization and would love to meet everyone at a HERF some day.
Zigatoh Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Oh my, the man said "handicapped people must not approach the altar" among other gems such as God having issues with menstruating women, and baby girls being twice as dirty as baby boys.... Calling him an idiot isn't stating an opinion about the bible, he was clearly deranged and just happens to be one of the vast cast of said book! Again, go read everything he came out with and feel free to come back to me with issue if you agree with his view in its totality!
DrunkenMonkey Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 The issue of sex outside of marriage, whether hetero or homosexual, according to God's word is sin. So if the homosexual people are married, that's ok with god then? And is he ok with threesomes in the context of plural marriages, or does he say that you have to take your wives one at a time?

Again, go read everything he came out with and feel free to come back to me with issue if you agree with his view in its totality! i think the point that various people are getting at is not so much that you do not hold a high opinion of whatever divinity others choose to believe in but that you have been disrespectful. and unnecessarily so. many may agree but calling him an idiot and deranged is offensive to many others. there are other ways to do this. i would add that your wording, "calling him", "he was clearly...", "his view", presumably means that you obviously believe in him in some form. which given the content i find curious.
Zigatoh Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Christians believe in the bible right? Does that mean they have to consider everyone and everything in it perfect? Imo no. I respect the people and religion just fine, but have an opinion on a specific historic individual and his output. And to your second point , believing these people existed doesn't necessarily suggest belief in the ideal. Jesus existed, I believe that is possible even likely, do I believe he was the son of God? No
poorman Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 This has been every bit as good as that Deer Hunting thread...
beamer Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 As long as we're really getting serious about the christian bible around here these days, I certainly hope that all the biblical scholars here are circumcised. Isn't that what Acts 15 Verse 1 says? Certain people came down from Judea to Antioch and were teaching the believers: “Unless you are circumcised, according to the custom taught by Moses, you cannot be saved.” Uh oh. Or will we only chose certain passages to follow? I like the one about loving your neighbor as yourself.

And there we have the rules for further discussion laid out plain and simple. So, here is my contribution... I love absolutely everyone! Courtesy and respect to all. I do not believe in god. I believe in chemistry. Homosexuality is totally natural.
