Philprop Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 So who's been paying attention? They're really starting to pick up now with a lot of events having started with the big one coming tomorrow, men's ice hockey. Can't wait for this to start as I obviously would love to see Canada repeat as gold medalists. But I like to watch the curling and speed skating. What events are you most looking forward to?
AndrewNR Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 What events are you most looking forward to? Closing Ceremony. 3
ned Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 the ski racing, the boarder and skier cross, the ski and snowboard slope and halfpipe. i love skiing and it is so awesome to see my friends competing.
CdnLimitada Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Men's hockey for sure. It is going to be a great tourny. The talent competing is crazy good. Where I am, the games are on at 1am so I will be a little sleepy for the next 10 days!
canadianbeaver Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 For all the hoopla about how the housing conditions suck, the flaws in the opening ceremony light show, etc etc, the Olympics have been fabulous to watch. Love the stage and graphics. I have to say the biathlon, men's and women's is my favorite sport to watch. Next is speed skating. 1
GernBlansten Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I'm an admitted Olympic junkie. So cool to see athletes bring their "A" games and put forth their best efforts for their countries. All ice hockey, curling, bobsled/luge and all cross country skiing (especially the biathlon) are my favorites.
Dozerhead Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I love the alpine events including the ski jumping. I have even enjoyed the snowboarding events though I don't normally watch it any other time. I'm kind of an Olympics junkie, too, so I will watch just about anything..except the ice dancing. For all the Americans watching, what the heck is going on with Bob Costas' eyes? What started out as an infection to his left eye has now spread to both. Do they not have a good Optometrist in that part of the world??
GnarlyEggs Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Always excited for Men's hockey. I really think Canada will win but would be happy to see USA win! I love watching curling and snowboarding too.
GernBlansten Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 For all the Americans watching, what the heck is going on with Bob Costas' eyes? What started out as an infection to his left eye has now spread to both. Do they not have a good Optometrist in that part of the world?? Our local NBC affiliate sent their sports guy to Sochi. Several days ago he reported a large outbreak of pink eye in Sochi. Bob is quite the trooper because that is just nasty!
Dozerhead Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Nasty stuff, indeed. In my experience it usually clears up quickly once you treat it with antibiotic drops. His case seems to be getting worse, not better.
mgravito Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I'm really enjoying the Olympics thus far. Looking forward to ice hockey, team luge, super-g. Enjoyed the half-pipe this morning.
hounser Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I always enjoy the Olympics. Favourite events: Hockey obviously, short track speed skating is always fun. I have to say I enjoyed the new slopestyle events, those were some serious jumps. But, I'll watch pretty much anything when it comes to the Olympics
El Presidente Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I agree with Roy and HG (two Aussie comedic presenters). There should be an event with teams trying to climb up a steep ice slope in sand shoes. 1
ptrthgr8 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I always look forward to hockey the most. The US and Canada women's hockey will get mean and nasty, so that's on my must-see list. I'll certainly enjoy the men's hockey more since they're actually allowed to check and whatnot. And I sorta hate to admit it, but I also enjoy figure skating. Most of the ladies are easy on the eyes and, really, what they do with skates on the ice is pretty freakin' amazing. I'm also hoping that Shaun White maintains his gold status on the super pipe. But I do love the Sochi double toilets. Especially the ones with three chairs lined up opposite. That's simply great! Cheers, Greg Sent from my DROID RAZR MAXX HD
Profmd Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I love all the Olympic sports. Considering you see very little amateur coverage of most winter sports, it's great to see massive coverage every 4 years. Of course I have to root for Canada's teams, especially the hockey and curling!! (Canadian eh?!?) Great hopes for women, but men may have a fight on their hands!!
MIKA27 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I'm a big fan of Winter Olympics. Will be watching the Ice Hockey for sure.
ImTripN2 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Skiing, the alpine events, speed skating, and ice hockey does it for me. Too bad NBC sucks so bad... 10 minutes of human interest stories featuring alternately gushing or sobbing relatives, 10 minutes of commercials, and 10 minutes of sport in a typical 1/2 hour. I'm glad I get CBC... Ron McLain is a great host with a great sense of humor.
shlomo Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Usually I enjoy watching and following the Olympics. Not this one for political and moral reasons. I only follow slightly for the kids at school who are excited about it.
Laxman Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Love the hockey and skiing. There are some smoking hot ladies in curling so will be watching that also.
Skyfall Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 I enjoy the Wolverine Sledding, the couples freestyle sno-coning and the 500m swimming. 1
