The rumour mill has it that Trinidad will create a new cigar in 2014 - the Vigia. With the announcement of a night dedicated to Trinidad during the Festival del Habanos this month, it's pretty much confirmed that a new cigar will be announced. Anyone have any information on this cigar, such as size? Anyone have a guess? The rumour was that it would be offered in boxes of 12 only. If so, then it is likely a big cigar. My guess that it is a parejos 48rg x 7.6" with a pig-tail cap.

I don't know what I could possibly be, they already had most vitola bases covered with Reyes robusto t robusto extra coloniales and fundadores. What would fit in amongst those?

Pirimides or Belicosos seems the answer I guess but if price point is again matched to Cohiba then I can't see it doing anything other than a robusto t repeat

Would be nice to see a shorter Fundadores, a Laguito no.2 sort of size, like what the Corona Especial is to the Lancero... more chance of pigs flying though! coffee.gif

At first I thought the same thing but then I convinced myself that Trinidad must have a pig-tail cap.

They might leave the head un-trimmed? I've seen NCs Belicosos with that. I'm pretty stumped otherwise, a culebra lol?

Maybe a wide fundadores: 5x55 etc!

How disappointing/frustrating. tantrum.gif

And I was looking forward to this for so long. thumbsdwn.gifangry.png

As I was reading through this I was getting so excited for the idea of the Laguito No. 2 size.

Now I'm sad. I'm particular to 40-48 RG most days.

Huh well that's a boring release!! I'm guessing the price will be set at RyJ wide Churchill level? If it's on the price scale of the rest of the Trinidad marca then why delete the non-selling Robusto T just to replace it with something essentially the same?

Or are they thinking that a shorter Trinidad fatty will sell well? Just like the Trinidad short robusto EL? :S :D

You so crazy HSA...

Do you know the name of the vitola?

regards

Lars

Most likely it will be called the same as the commercial name, Vigia. As far as I know this vitola has never existed in the past.

Time to buy Robusto-T???

IF you know where, please PM.

I've been hoarding them since they were EOL'd. Now none of my sources have any stock left, and I've only got a dozen. sad.png I was hoping the Viagia would be really similar, but at 54, it's a bit large for my style.

Here's the notes from CA.

The cigar was the final smoke passed out at the Trinidad dinner, which also saw the release of the fat Trinidad Vigia, which has a ring gauge of 54. Both are expected to debut later in the year, so it's hard to fairly judge the samples we were given last night, but I tried each one to give some perspective on how they might smoke when they reach the retail chain.

First, the Trinidad. It was a beautifully made smoke, with an oily, nearly flawless wrapper and that familiar Trinidad pigtail. Some of us were a bit confused by the focus on Trinidad, a brand that's not exactly in the mainstream here in Cuba. On my shop visits, I saw few for sale, and the brand has been pared down in recent years. But where Trinidads have been traditionally slim (after all, the first size in the line was a lancero) the Vigia is more in line with the type of cigars preferred by many of today's cigar lovers—quite plump. I smoked two last night, one during the dinner, and the second back at the hotel over a drink in the lobby. It was evident the cigar was quite young, and it seemed to have been rolled very recently, with a rather waxy taste. I think it was just too young to judge. I would bet the final product will be quite different.

I also would like to know where to find some robusto t. Can't find it anywhere and have been really wanting to try it.
