bills fan? wow, that has to be tough. there was a period when when all the NFC east wanted was to play the bills in a superbowl. the one to the giants was cruel.

for what it is worth, i was pro bills for three of them - obviously not in the one v the skins.

i remember that game well. i have mentioned before, what many americans would not be aware of was that it had to be started twice. i'd just got back to australia and so we did not have american ads, of course. game kicked off and the first play from that kickoff took place - can't remember exactly what happened. bills made a few yards. they had to re-do it because the american tv was still showing ads. bills made less yards next time, if i recall.

then thurman thomas could not find his helmet for the first play and so was on the sideline. i remember reading where a lot of the skins knew, at that moment, they had the game won. a bloke so focused on other things that he loses his helmet before the first play in a superbowl?? wow!

i know the bills were faves for the game but i could never see it. never had any doubt that the skins would win it. tough era for the bills as they came up against some great teams (and dallas).

Yes. Bills and Sabres (also brutal but hockey is another story).

Buffalo probably should have won two of those SBs. Certainly the Giants. Maybe one of the Dallas games. Marv Levy is a bit of a hero (if you are into the coach/intellectual thing) but I don't know if he was too much of a player's coach during those years. So much talent. So much ego. So much partying before the SB games. The Bills didn't take NYG seriously at all. I think they started to play scared and tight in the other three SB games after blowing what should have been at comfortable victory against the Giants.

Thurman's Helmet is actually my name on a Bills-related forum. Haha.....

Super Bowl XXVIII. We were up at halftime. Thurman 'big game' Thomas fumbled on the first possession of the 3rd quarter. Returned for TD. game tied. blah blah. it all fell apart.

Side bet on who makes the SB first Romo Boi?

With Jerry Jones or Ralph Wilson running the ship (literally for JJ, from a life alert bracelet for RW).... neither will be hoisting any trophies soon.....

and toss in dan synder for owners likely to remain sans trophies.

the bills partying and carrying-on pre SB games was very bizarre, especially for a team that had not won one. i remember gibbs had the skins very focused in the lead up in 92 while the bills seemed to think it was hollywood come to down. very strange.

was quite similar to collingwood in the AFL the year they played the lions the second time in 03. lions had won two in a row, collingwood had won bugger all tho got a lot closer the year before than expected. were so convinced they had it won they treated the week pre game as some giant celebrity event. apparently two of the team - can't remember who - were even seen in a tanning salon the night before, so they'd look good for the presentations. lions came out very focused and it was all over by quarter time.
