canadianbeaver Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Recently I got hold of a vintage cigar collection. It is going to take a while and lots of help from Trevor's site to figure out what's what. The fellow I got it from is being super helpful too. As I try them, I will take some photos and tell you guys what they are like. Monte 4. Mine, 1990's; Matthew's, 1980's. The first draws were so delicate and smooth, we were thrilled and delighted. In the past, 25-30 year old cigars were harsh and too strong for us. These were like butter cream. Matthew's kept its form perfectly. The wrapper fell off mine, but still smoked just fine. I am not that fussy. When we just about finished, they got stronger and very aromatic, kind of herbal. But so tasty and still very smooth. Cannot wait to try some of the others!
melies Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Bravo Lisa, those are really nice, remember when I used to have them back in the day
Croz71 Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Very nice Lisa....I love monte 4. Hopefully one day, I will get to try a vintage cigar. I don't think my box of 2010 will make it to vintage though :-D
Stanislaw Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Excellent excellent score and thanks for sharing.... I have to say montecristo's are my favorite aged cigars (not that I've had many others)
canadianbeaver Posted January 15, 2014 Author Posted January 15, 2014 Giving this one a try, a NC 1990's Bolivar. Don't have any reference for details about it, sorry. Started off nice. Mellow, sweet and tasty. Going downhill in the next third to bitter but I will give it a chance. Otherwise, into the fireplace it goes! The sardines are chocolates. IT WENT INTO THE FIRE. YUCK.
laficion Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 IT WENT INTO THE FIRE. YUCK. I hate to say this but I have to. I could have told you Lisa . !!!!!! It's normal .
