Got a lovely box of Monte #4 on the 12 Days of Christmas sale, they are showing the benefit of proper storage.....showing a bit of plume.

Youngest box I have ever seen do this,it was an HQ box, personally picked out by El Presidente.

Glorious wrappers, firm and well made cigars,I will do this again...........

Thanks folks!!

Expected this reaction.

After 40 years of smoking cigars, have only seen plume a handful of times, have seen mold plenty of times.

I know the difference.

Oh well I am just stating a fact and trying to be helpful as you said plume is very rare occurrence and nearly impossible in a young box, you know if you expected this reaction you could have posted a pic to prevent it. Though since I noticed you are in the USA are you sure its not just frostbite with the weather you have been gettingnyah.gif

I don´t know... maybe it could be cake frosting, Rob's Monte 4, have been that good as of late :D (joke) Congratulations and some pictures would be nice hungry.gif

I've found young oily cigars that have just been in transit from very hot/very humid to a cool/dry place (destination or just aeroplanes) and vice versa will gain a very slight efflorescence of said oils.

Not really plume but not really mould either, a bit of the magic of cigars that I like smile.png

Congrats on getting a beautiful box!

When I get a plumed up box of goodness, I like taking pics with the flash on to see how much it exaggerates the plume. It looks really cool, but not the best for posting, just for personal viewing pleasure.

Enjoy!

Definitely good people here choosing our boxes. It's funny that you'd be challenged on your knowledge of the plume. I've only been a cigar lover for the last 3 years and I have no doubts that I can easily distinguish plume and mold. I've also had boxes of NC that show plume during their first year so I have no doubts that your Montes could be showing plume. Post up some nice pics when you light up so we can be envious of you!

An age old debate of course. I have seen some dust of plume on young cigars. That's pretty awesome. ;)

That was dust, wood dust, but not plume. btw, I agree, the debate is age old, and there is a reason if there is no pic of young cigars covered with plume…

If it was any other cigar, I probably wouldn't question it, but I've seen a ton of boxes of Monte no. 4 with a light dusting of mold on them recently. Not like it matters, it wipes right off and they smoke great, but still.

I've only recently joined and have been ordering Czar, but I must say they only seem to send works of art, not your average stogies. It makes me wonder what they do with the "other" boxes, since a master case must surely have a fair share of duds in it no? Is there a year end bonfire of sticks that don't make the cut? And if so, how can I get an invitation?? :P
