NastyPirate Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 My stocking is hanging empty on a hook on the fireplace.... My wife asked me what I wanted for Christmas, and after the now-standard response of "more hair, new teeth and a better hearing aid", she offered to buy me cigars. Not my usuals. The qualifier was that they had to be cigars that someone felt were unique, surprisingly great or under the radar, and would make me remember this particular Christmas. I thought about all the wonderful CC's that I have had this year. But, like many, I haven't gone through the complete Habanos catalog. Hence, I'm looking for those out-of-the-ordinary stogies that someone has mentioned as a cigar to remember, but got missed when order time comes around. Size and taste are not really an issue, as I always have the necessary time and have rarely had a CC that didn't satisfy at least some part of my palate. Please fill up my stocking with suggestions; boxes or singles, depending on availability. And guys, its a BIG ASS stocking! Thanks
melies Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Romeo y Julieta - Churchill Reserva that is if money is no object , if she's on a budget I would go for Rafael Gonzalez PC
Tino Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Get a 5er of Monte A coffins, smoke one on Christmas day for the next five years!
CaptainQuintero Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Cuaba distinguidos-loads of coffee and nuts, fun size too Punch sabrosos - such an under the radar cigar it's untrue, delicate and fruity, like fresh grape skins
Troels Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 SLR dc is one of my favorites. I find they smoke nicely even after a year and they are supposed to age well. another argument for these is they are just dis*****inued, so might be last chance. contra is that they only come in 50-cabs
Phillys Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Royal Robusto or tell your wife about the 12 days of Christmas sale!
NastyPirate Posted December 18, 2013 Author Posted December 18, 2013 These are all great suggestions, and I have tried only a very few of them in the past. There are a lot of suggestions that remind me of previous posts regarding a superlative cigar experience that I had forgotten about. There really are some gems out there. And for those of you who ask if price is an obstacle, I can happily say that it is not.
fokker4me Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Partigas Presedentes, Salomones, Cohiba Lancero, PL Monte Carlos. Some different choices.
Skitalets Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Get a 5er of Monte A coffins, smoke one on Christmas day for the next five years! I second this suggestion. I smoke one "A" size cigar each year and thoroughly enjoy it. Usually a Monte but have also had the recent Punch regional and have an Opus A waiting for sometime soon.
BonVivant Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 (Something discontinued?) Ask for something that you would not get yourself or could not? Just a thought.
Trent0341 Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 One that I really like that is rarely mentioned and is discontinued but still available is the Vegas Robaina Classicos. Thought this was a really good cigar with a unique vegetal/floral taste. Some other suggestions (based off of my own wishes) that are off the beaten path: ERDM Infantes ER Cuba Monsdales (might be a wee bit difficult to find) PL Encantos (still possible to find but growing rarer) RyJ Reservas (have these on the way so we'll see how they turn out) Partagas Lusi Gran Reservas (You said money was no object haha) La Escepcion Selectos Finos (still possible to find as well but these won't be around to much longer I imagine) Plenty of great suggestions as mentioned by those before me. Let us know what you end up with!
Rye Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 The Hoyo de Monterrey Double Epicure travel humidor might fit the stocking. I found it to be a great cigar, and the humidor they came in is beautiful
