"Unofficial" FOH Cigar Of The Year Poll.

Here we go again. Last year I opened up an "Unofficial FOH Cigar Of The Year" Poll. Why not again? tongue.png

Below is what has been officially released by Habanos during 2013. I've decided to mix all the releases as the regular production releases really haven't hit wide distribution.

This list is "unofficial". Have some fun with it. Vote for as many selections as you like.

Poll Duration: Friday Nov 29 - 12PM EST - Friday Dec 20 11:59PM EST

I've used CCW to compile the list. Many thanks to Trevor for this tremendous resource. ok.gif

Note: There are 21 cigars listed. Of them, two have not actually been seen by anyone.

  • The Partagas Series E No 1
  • Rafael Gonzales Petit Piramides

Hmm as far as I am aware of the Rafael Gonzales Petit Piramides is until now not released.

Thanks for the update. If I get a 2nd confirmation on that, I'll remove that entry. :) I will make a note of it on the 1st post in the meantime.

You know I can't say I have smoked a single one of those sticks. Guess I tend to wait for reviews on if they are worth it or not. Hell I just finally added the Mag 48 to my collection after people have been raving about them lately.

Definitely interested to see what wins though.

FEEDBACK NEEDED

Cohiba Piramides Extra. Listed as 2012 Release. Only started showing up in quantities mid 2013.

Add it to the list or not?

I'd add it, as I don't know many that smoked them before 2013.

Of this list, I have smoked only a single, of three of the list, and have a couple more, so I'll reserve my vote for now.

As it sits, I liked the Punch EL TONS better than the Monte DE, and loved the ERDM Asia release.

Edit- ERDM released last year... Oops.

Don't mean to be a "wise-guy", and I definitely don't mean to criticize,

but the vast majority of us have only access to one or two of the RE's or even the LCDH releases.

I guess, everyone who tried - and liked - one or the other of these cigars will happily vote for it,

but how significant will the outcome of this be as a broader consensus?

IMO a better way would be to have voting on any cigar with a 2013 box code. Everyone would be able to have an opinion on something they smoked from this year. Plus regular production is where it's at. I am a regional ***** but my Dantes, PL robusto, encantos and RACF all have a couple year in them as is with most RE and EL before their true potential is known. On the other hand regular production can be compared to past vintages. For instance many day that cohiba from this year are already better then 2011s or even 2009s.

This list is comprised of the 2013 Habanos Releases, for better or worse. And that is what is being voted on. "Cigar Of The Year" Yes, the RE's are not ubiquitous releases, many EL's are just entering the channels, but that's how this cookie crumbles. :P

I thought about doing just regular production cigars from 2013 but that list is massive. See for yourself. CCW I still might do one but it will be a PITA building the polls. Anyone who wants to try it, go for it! :)

It's not an official poll, be all, end all list. It's just what was released in 2013. Fellow FOH's will vote as their experiences befit them. That's all that can be asked for at this point. I certainly haven't tried a third of these myself, but from what I've smoked, I've made my selections.

I hope that you'll all participate as best you can.

Cheers,

Frank

I figure I have until Dec 20th right? So I better get crackin'! Thanks for putting this together for the second year, Frank.

**Update: Spoke with LCDH Luxembourg today as I am a "friend" of theirs on Facebook. The box of Belux RE Pedorosos can be purchased now... 495e plus 25e shipping per box. That's $720 US. Ummmm you first.

the Cohiba Piramides Extra is a 2012 release and from my point of view was mostly available however i would say a number of people like my self did not try one until this year so I think its fit to be on the list. As well I have yet to try or even see most of the cigars on the list but from what I have had I have made my vote, I am curious to see what the outcome will be.

Not had any off the list and to be honest will probably only ever try the Connie A and the Vegueros. RE's and EL's are not my bag right now, would rather buy twice as many regular productions for the money

I have tried 12 of the above listed cigars and I must say I am quite surprised that there are so many votes for the Cohiba PE which was a bit of a disappointment for me. My vote was a tough choice between the Punch LE and the New Upmann Connie A. I went with the Upmann.
