El Presidente Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Bloody Hell! ..Moving from Iphone is not easy. I must say each week becomes easier but it is a hell of a re-learning process. The loves: 1. Camera functionality is perfect. The days of point and shoot cameras are over. 2. e-mail is seamless. 3. battery life is excellent. Having a 32 gig card is brilliant. 4. Connect to any micro port connection around the office to download or recharge. We would have 20. What really pissed me off on Iphone was the recent "USB not supported" with any and all non Apple connections. 5. flexibility. You can configure your device almost limitlesly. The Hates. 1. Typing is not as good as Iphone. 2. Phone page/screen jumps in and out of calls. Calls are not disconnected mind you....just you never know if you have hung up. 3. Scrolling "eye" thinks I am a genius. 4. connection to time zones is too manual. 5. just different...completely different to what I am used to. 6. Still haven't got my Itunes across. All in all I wouldn't go back. I would certainly move to the Samsung Note 3 which I will do shortly.
Croz71 Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 I've been using samsung for 1 year now. Went through the same re-learning process as you Prez. I used to love the iphone but now would never go back. The flexibility with the Galaxy is second to none. I hate how Apple control the customer when using their products.
Fuzz Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 The Hates. 1. Typing is not as good as Iphone. 2. Phone page/screen jumps in and out of calls. Calls are not disconnected mind you....just you never know if you have hung up. The Smart Stay feature may be screwing things up. If you go into another screen, you can always go back to the call by flicking the drop down menu at the top of your screen 3. Scrolling "eye" thinks I am a genius. Disable the feature, it's not really working right yet. 4. connection to time zones is too manual. Go into you settings, scroll to "Date and Time", tick "Automatic date and time" & Automatic time zone" 5. just different...completely different to what I am used to. Old dogs can learn new tricks! 6. Still haven't got my Itunes across. All in all I wouldn't go back. I would certainly move to the Samsung Note 3 which I will do shortly.
El Presidente Posted October 16, 2013 Author Posted October 16, 2013 Fuzz shall do so. However on time zone I had it as "automatic" ...took me to NSW timezon automatically as if you guys are the centre of the world Show me some shortcuts when you come up on the weekend! EL Pres

EL Pres Well that's because the "correct time" at the moment is AEDT. Once you get the hang of it, the S4 is just as good as the iPhone.
ZinZan Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Prez, Instead of typing use the swipe as the input. Much faster and actually easier. Once you get the hang of it's quite cool.

If you can remember the layout of the keyboard. Some people I know still pause and search the keyboard for each letter. It's like watching a chicken peck out an email.
hanhan Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 The Hates. 1. Typing is not as good as Iphone. 2. Phone page/screen jumps in and out of calls. Calls are not disconnected mind you....just you never know if you have hung up. Prez, Try the following: Under display settings: -turn on high touch sensitivity Under call settings: - uncheck "Turn off screen during calls" Under Language and Input - samsung keyboard settings -continuous input (aka SWYPE). Easiest way to type one handed by dragging letters towards each other and creating a chain of probable words and it will predict the next word that you want to input. Once you try this, you will never go back
Othello Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 I just went from a three year old Samsung Galaxy to a Motorola Droid ........ it's only been since Sunday, but I am liking the Droid thus far. Many improvements, but it is a little bit of a change ........
Munts Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Prez, Instead of typing use the swipe as the input. Much faster and actually easier. Once you get the hang of it's quite cool. +1 Swype is fantastic
obviousadams Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 1. I wouldn't turn the screen on during calls you could end up presssing buttons with your cheek. 2. Swype is the best, can't live without it.
riazp Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Note 3 is an amazing phone, a couple of my mates got one recently and i'm thinking of getting one myself. THe only down side to the note 3 that its impossible to use the phone with one hand...I'm glad to hear you are loving the world of android. As for you music..its quite simple. Plug in your phone to your pc via usb, Grab the music you want, Drag and drop the folders to the music folder on your phone or SD card and voilà.
Warren Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 I'm the same. A Samsung convert. I've got the Note 2 and the screen is just amazing. You can learn to use them one handed though.
jazzmonkey Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Went from iPhone to S4 and I don't think I'd ever go back. Even though I'm a Mac user the file transfer with drag and drop makes it so easy to transfer music, videos etc. Plus I bought a 64g card, so I have 16g on my phone and 64g for my music. Way better than what I had before.
SCgarman Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Love my Galaxy S4. Would never own an Iphone. Got a free Iphone4 with my S4 purchase. Gave the Iphone to my 7 year old daughter. Good phone for a kid!
targa88 Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 +3 on "Swype" great interface. Better than the keyboard I use to have on BB
Colt45 Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 You can learn to use them one handed though. Do you need all the fingers?
Peacock Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Just bought a Motorola Droid Moto X. We shall see how it works.
ZinZan Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 If you can remember the layout of the keyboard. Some people I know still pause and search the keyboard for each letter. It's like watching a chicken peck out an email. Its true sometimes i forget that i got it on swipe cuz tapping on the letters is so instinctive.
riazp Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 swype is fantastic, not obvious at the begenning but now i dont know what i'd do without it!
El Presidente Posted October 17, 2013 Author Posted October 17, 2013 I had no idea that swype existed! Loving the phone 25% more already.....been using swype all morning. Cheers for the heads up!
SCgarman Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 Just set my phone up with Swype. Pretty cool! Thanks for the tips guys. Never knew it existed.

The new samsung Droid phones poised to hit the market are going to be iphone killers.
