bassman Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Oh yeah, got a fiver of 60 gauge Cuban customs. Good taste, but very uncomfortable in my mouth. Anyone who says I have a fat mouth is a liar!
Scdalak Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 R&J 55 DUKE is as big as i smoke. An occasional Wide Churchill and the BHK 52 is the max for me... Give me a 46-48 anyday..

RyJ Duke is the largest RG i have smoked, loved the cigar but the was a little large for my tastes, is the duke 52? Find if the draw is tight coupled with a larger RG that they are uncomfortable to smoke. Preference around 40-48 for me unless its a figurado
Roanoke Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 I find it depends on the mood for me. I gravitate towards Pyramids mostly, but the occasional Corona goes a long way. The largest I've ever smoked was 60, and it was work to hold on to it - clumsy and awkward in the mouth and hand.
Diamondog Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Really 50 ring is where i start, i dont smoke NC's so biggest they get is a 56....54 is probably my fave

dangolf18 Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 I'm loving the PSE2. If I could afford the BHK, I'd smoke more of them. Overall, though, not a big RG fan.
thechenman Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 My sweet spot lies in the 38 to 50 range. At least that's the rg I smoke most often. I'm not opposed to going larger, and will sometime smoke up to a 56rg. I've even smoked a few 60rg cigars, but they were box pressed. Anything larger than that I don't even consider.
Rushman Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 My go to is generally 42-48 with robustos at 50 being my typical top end. Can't recall the last time I smoked larger than 50. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=19.307822,-81.379096
Jnaube Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 I smoke everything. Small, big, short, long, I really don't mind. Every vitola has it's particularities and my biggest pleasure is to discover and learn them. Why limit ourselves to one ring gauge?
canadianbeaver Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 Just occurred to me. I don't really like smoking large ring gauge cigars. But I like watching Enis (silent P) smoke them... And he can handle some big guys let me tell you. TMI?

dicko Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 I like pyramids but ill cut the draw down to effectively a mid 40's.

Every vitola has it's particularities and my biggest pleasure is to discover and learn them. Why limit ourselves to one ring gauge? +1 Being a new smoker I felt I got more bang for the buck when smoking the bigger RG's. In my mind churchhill's were normal size and smaller cigars are wimpy. You always Chuchhill having a big cigar hanging out his mouth. Then when I was in Cuba a bunch of years ago I saw that old lady smoking what looked to be the size of a leg. Now I've hung out here and smoked a few PC's and other sizes I've gotten over the idea "size matters" As the NC market gets more popular I believe the bigger RG's are more popular.

The smallest a Partagas Palmas Grandes at 33rg (very thin cigar, lots of flavor).

obviousadams Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 I generally prefer something between 40 and 50. Box pressing and pyramids allow me to go a little bigger I guess. It's not that I won't smoke bigger cigars, but I prefer not to and don't do it all that regularly. I don't mind smoking pantelas and lanceros but I always fear a plug which makes me shy away.
Misterblue Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 I looked at my list of cigars today thinking I had very few 50+ but I actually have many and enjoy most. If I am remembering rings correctly I currently have and enjoy: monte petit Ed, pl beli re, party 2, bbf, ryj beli, 520s, and bhk54...speaking of which, rob can we get a bhk54 sale for Father's Day:)?
dan5974 Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 I currently only smoke 50+ RG cigars because I'm smoking off my "fatties" and saving my thinner RG smokes.I bought up alot of robustos when I first got into cigars about 10 years ago.Now I'm more of a fan of smaller and skinnier smokes.Usuall after smoking for about an hour I've had enough.I do like pointy cigars ,but try to cut them as small as posssible and try to get a good draw. When I'm finally done with the "fatties",the largest smokes I'll have are corona gordas and some long and skinnys.I normally like to smoke Perlas or Minutos.I also wont try alot of the new NC lines, because usually the smallest size is a robusto.
Phillys Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 I also do not discriminate, I will try anything. However I find that I am really lacking in the skinnies departement, as most of my smokes range from 46 to 52. In the larger sizes I prefer piramides as they are more comfortable and RG can be reduced and my favorite vitola is the corona gorda but I find that I have a lot of 50 RG cigars.
hiball99 Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 I'll try anything once but tend to stay in the 50-54 size rg. I have smoked smoked a few 60 gauge cigars i did really enjoy the MUWAT and Diesel shorty.
winelover Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Pyramids are the largest ring I smoke... X2 but they are tapered so once clipped maybe only 42rg in the mouth
CanuckSARTech Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 With few exceptions, I am strictly <=50RG. The exceptions are BHK, and a few of the LE/RE releases that I enjoy. Figurados/Piramides are a different story, of course. Agreed fully with this. The only plus-50 sizes I've smoked (52-54-56) have been the BHK's. Aside from that, my normal average size is 42-46. I still like my robustos, but dalias, coronas, the odd panetela, etc., are always in the mix. Piramides are in there too, but although most now are 52 or so, I consider them a 42-46, based on the diameter at the head where the cut is made (therefore, more of a less obtrusive feel in the mouth, compared to smoking a BHK 54 or 56, for example).
SMQQKIN Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Normally anything from 33 to 52 RG, but if it's a really great cigar it's more about the flavor than about the size and that's why I don't mind a few exceptions like a Monte 520 or Cohiba PE.
