Not a proper review - just my impression of these two or three new releases smoked yesterday with friends :

We started with a crate of Heineken and Quintero Favoritos, which both Andreas and Hans regarded as good and honest cigars as I already have previously.

Sprinkled throughout was a fine wild oranges spirit that added the zest and fruitiness to the cigars and our conversation.

Next I smoked the brand new Montecristo Petit Piramides from the Festival, sporting the Montecristo band with darker brown and much gold that makes it look very much … Non Cuban.
Not an impressive cigar, nothing to write home about, really boring hot air.

Hans received an aged RASS that was very good while Andreas opted for a book Bolivar that was stellar.

I smoked the other Festival release, the Vegueros Mañanitas and I am quite impressed with that little bugger. Truly very good, I liked it, peppery, sweet, lasting aromas, perfect. A very good smoke. Not a brand I had on my radar so the more I was impressed.

The Monte and Vegueros are sizes that I really like. Going to try one of them when I can. Thank you for the information.

Nino, so I read you enjoyed the Vegueros. The format looks really appealing. Do you think these will be in the lower end of pricing like the favoritos are?

And I have to agree, the new Monte Bands are much to shiny, and make them look too much like the non-cuban monte bands...They should have stayed with the white and brown

Thanks for the pictures and post Nino. I look forward to trying the new Vegeuros lineup. Does anyone have an idea of when they will become available?

Riaz,

I would like to believe so, guess pricing on Vegueros is not too high, not considered a high end Marca.

Must admit I didn't have it on my radar and I haven't smoked many Vegueros, but I truly enjoyed this vitola a lot and could see it, maintaining this quality, becoming a good alternative for a smaller coffee time cigar or a pleasant one hour smoke.

Will look for them on release - which could take some time as usual :-)

Plus 2 on the new bands ...

Thanks for the update. IMO, the new Vegueros band is even uglier than the old Vegueros band ;)

Funny you mention the band - one of the ladies that shared our cigar meeting yesterday thought it was a beautiful band and very much " Art Deco" like - I must admit I agree, I also believe it's a nice, fresh design, simple and aesthetic - just MHO.

It looks like a pretzel can. No one at work will know.

I like the mananitas size! Thanks for the review. I'm going to have to try some now. Nino, any thoughts on Troyas? I've tried a couple and were pleasantly surprised.

I like the size, and the taste above all, as well - as for Troyas, haven't tried them, so no thoughts so far

The Vegueros is an interesting size. Seems the Favoritos have been a success, so hopefully HSA can replicate that with these new Vegueros. It's nice they are trying to offer some more good quality economy priced smokes.

interesting... the new vegueros band looks a bit futuristic for a habano. the trademark ****** logo is still present (sorry i mean leaf) just a bit too shiny. good to see a brand reborn from the ashes though.

they are all short and stubby!

The new Vegueros band is more modern looking and looks fresh rather than the more traditional style we are used to. So I guess who likes it depends on whether they are more traditional or not.

Like the wine labels, some more modern wineries use catchy names and evolve from the old style designs.
