Friendly Smoking in London

Recommended Posts

The Lanesborough Hotel, Knightsbridge, London now has a room named "The Garden Room" which is essentially an outdoors smoking area yet is sheltered and heated and great for a quiet smoke throughout the year. They also have an excellent collection of Cuban cigars in house including some pre-Castro sticks. So if you have time and are nearby it is certainly worth a visit for a relaxing and enjoyable smoke. I find this is a great way around the smoking ban and is certainly worth a try.

Happy Smoking,

A very good shout, and rather established now.

Other good shouts are the various Boisdale Restaurants/Bars (the one in Belgravia is lovely, Canary Wharf is excellent, but best avoided if there's a bit of a breeze - it can be a bit exposed). Ten Manchester Street Hotel has a brilliant cigar terrace - it's not huge, so can fill out on a busy night, but it's very warm and incredibly well protected.

Plus there's the rather helpful exemption from the smoking ban for 'sampling' cigars in specialist Tobacconists - so there's always (amongst others) JJ Fox, Sautter's, and Davidoff to consider. JJ Fox will even be hosting a comedy night soon... Should probably declare a slight vested interest in that night... innocent.gif

Happy Smoking,

Lovely place. Went there today solo, brought my own and kept my spending in check. I was delighted to meet the 25.00 minimum spend given that is is such a delightful place. My tip -phone in advance if planning on BYO as a point of courtesy.

Also I had an upmann monarca (great smoke until 3/5ths of the way down then went bitter and had burn problems. During this time I had perrier, a beer, and another perrier. But perrier is not just perrier when served in a crystal glass with ice and lime as standard!

Then I had a BBF from 2010 and a mojito. They were both great and it seems to me that age cranks up the power in BBFs (counter intuitive - and I think I prefer them lighter and younger).

Perrier alao helped to keep the spending in check.

Yeah, it's a great place and you can take your own smokes in there if you spend £25.

Pilgrims, Wino and I frequent it on occasion party.gif

In London go to cigar bars where you can BYO and then you can save your money for xhampagne cognac rum whisky etc. Otherwise I find prices at least x3 on what I buy them for through Rob.

So my review of London

Tom Toms Cigar shop - great shop, you can smoke in the coffee shop accross the road, the shop has a heater, but it is a bit exposed to the wind etc.

Davidoff - I was surprised to see they don't only sell Davidoffs. They have more cubans than non-cubans! Nice store to look around as well with lots pipes and pipe tobacco etc.

JJ Fox - Great shop, obviously has the attraction of being Churchills shop from way back. Good cigar history in the museum as well and just in general in the store. More than happy to let you smoke in their lounge what you purchase in their store. Good bunch of guys in the store.

LCDH in Teddington - Awesome store. Ajay is a great guy to talk to. I was kicking myself that i went there while i was sick (blocked nose with flu) and i couldn't savour all the awesome smells of the place. A great range of very very aged stock from what i saw. Good lounge, and they sell chocolates as well which i like with my cigars so that was good. Just all round good shop to buy smokes and Ajay is great to talk to.

Ten Manchester St - Met up with some FoH brothers at this place. Nice place for a smoke, ofcourse the company was great and added to the nejoyable night that was had!

Sautters - Smallish shop, had a resaonable range of cigars but to be honest i found the staff i met on the day i went there a bit absent minded. I asked if they had a bolivar PC and they said that must be a regional edition to Australia? Anyway the store was ok, but didn't spend much time in there. Bought a PLPC from there which was the best one i've had so far. Smoked it while walking around the city.
