backslide Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Looking forward to the Monte Petit No. 2 - regardless of the band. Ditto,
CanuckSARTech Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I just meant the association of the Vegueros brand (as comical as that sounds) with a new format. I understand the place for bundles and cheaper cigars in the marketplace. I like bundled cigars for outdoor activity smoking. LOL. Looks like they're looking to one-up the new (and highly desirable and collectible) Guantanameras tin packaging, and "revitalize" Vegueros with their own collection of tins and new formats.... http://habanosnews.h...-night-vegueros Here's a new story they just put up too, with pictures of the new Monte bands as well (I'm actually very much torn on these - I don't really mind them, kind of like the addition of the gold to it to maybe "help" bring Monte up to the Cohiba level a bit, but at the same time, definitely makes it easier for the fakes-market by making it look more like the NC version of Montecristo).... http://habanosnews.h...nd-its-new-band
canadianbeaver Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Ugh. No like that gold on the Monte band. Cheesey.
kuzi16 Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 The Vegueros looks like a logo from a sports team. Ugly imho. It doesn't have the elegant or classic look of most Cuban bands. Although if they taste good I could care less about the packaging. i agree 100% here ill try them and i hope they turn out well there seems to be a bit of hesitation from this forum, and in general, about this cigar. much of it seems to be about the packing. i just hope that this cigar is not judged as being "poor" before it is smoked.
compitaveggie Posted March 1, 2013 Author Posted March 1, 2013 I would also like to know the price of the Vegueros as well. I have a feeling that prices, at least initially will be higher than JLP.
CanuckSARTech Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 I don't think its the packaging as much as it is a frigging Vegueros resurrection that has some people irked...lol LOL. True. I don't judge them on being poor before smoking because of the new Vegueros packaging. I'm being biased and judging them on being poor before it is smoked because it's a Vegueros. LOL. Just not my cuppa tea.
tempbond Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 Whoa that is a blatant rip off of the Montecristo brand now I get where people are coming from. I still hate how a lot of these non Cuban cigar companies can get away with almost identically copying the Cuban brands. New Cuban Montecristo Band Non Cuban Montecristo Band I really like the new bands, makes them look more upscale in my opinion and they're a lot better looking than the NC bands. As for them looking too much like the NC, do not forget that it was the NC that copied the CC bands in the first place... As for the packaging of the new Vegueros, if it can keep the price down and give us another affordable line of CC, I'm all for it.
tempbond Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 Rob, any idea when the new Vegueros will be available on *****INT ?
Jnaube Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 Going deep on the ERDM RE Cuba. I won't make the same mistake twice..... Trust me, I'll do the same... Many boxes coming my way.
khomeinist Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 Ha. True. If the ERDM are a glorified CS in fancy boxes, I will certainly pass. I would like an ERDM jar. I can't lie....
dan5974 Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 The new vegeros look better presented and more tasty than the monte opens imo They'll probaly definetly taste better.
Smallclub Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Good thing people have some common sense and say they will at least try one or two before they buy dozens of boxes....lol but they buy boxes of the most expensive Cohiba, LEs and REs without having a clue about quality…
polarbear Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Whats the ERDM jar likely to cost? I picked up a full LGC jar on the secondary market but I'm not sure what it cost when they came out so I cant compare
polarbear Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 A fair point I meant if it was a jar If it is, I might have to seriously look at that trip to cuba I've been thinking about
Jnaube Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 A fair point I meant if it was a jar If it is, I might have to seriously look at that trip to cuba I've been thinking about Or just get yourself a mule. Cheaper.
maverickdrinker Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 but they buy boxes of the most expensive Cohiba, LEs and REs without having a clue about quality… Rrriiiggghhhtttt..... Didn't try it before buying.......
polarbear Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Rrriiiggghhhtttt..... Didn't try it before buying....... These days by the time you buy and smoke a couple of singles, boxes are sold out :-( When it comes to most LE's, I've found you have to go all in or go without, at least thats how it is in Australia
khomeinist Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Rrriiiggghhhtttt..... Didn't try it before buying....... Somebody get this guy some bandless cigars. THAT would be amusing.....
polarbear Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 I'm still s#*tty about that LGC jar Polarbear! Whats your CigarsAus handle, so I know who I'm talking to?
polarbear Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Ahhhh, that makes sense Figured you'd still be dirty about that ;-) If it makes you feel any better, I had a bit of explaining to do after the missus googled them and thought I paid $1000 for it.
